Best Rotors and Pads for the TL
I hope I'm posting in the right section. I tried searching through this forum but my head started spinning and I didn't get much info. I'm trying to replace my rear and front rotors and pads. I'm starting with the rear. Autozone has a really good fathersday sale right now with 20% off orders over $100 with free shipping so I want to get something there.
I can't decided which rotors to get from autozone. I really like the black duralast gold rotors but I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews around saying they warped quickly, they get cracks, or they get rust regardless. Supposedly some people say it's working fine for them. Are the regular duralast rotors just as bad? I notice that they have Brembo rotors and pads online. Are the brembo rotors and pads better than the duralast gold? These are the three rotors I have to choose from for the rear. Any recommendations are much appreciated.

again?
always search in google with the following you'll get much better results and you'll come across hundreds of threads on brake pads (it's an 8-12 yr old car)

Sockr1 I tried that first but I couldn't find anything conclusive. Although I did find some bad reviews for the duralast gold rotors. Would you suggest that I use the Brembo rotors intsead or the cheapest duralast on that link I posted?

So in your opinion the brembo rotors that autozone sells is not worth it? I was quite suprised to see any brembo products sold by autozone THB.

Rotor resurfacing isn't cost effective anymore; they just starting pulsating soon after anyway. Centric rotors are awesome for the money. I just ordered two new fronts for $61 each (6MT price) from Tire Rack. The ones for the 5AT are cheaper, and the rears are around $40 each. The e-coating on the hub is a huge bonus, if you don't like rusty hubs.

I resurfaced my brothers rotors recently and they have 160,000 original miles on them. It was the first time they were resurfaced.
The key is to not cut too much.

This is what I did about 5-6 months ago, from RockAuto:
Rear pad: WAGNER QC536 {#PD536} [Brake Pad] ThermoQuiet Includes Installation Hardware Kit; Daily Driver
Front pad: WAGNER MX1049 [Brake Pad] ThermoQuiet; Daily Driver
Rear rotor: CENTRIC 12540061 [Rotor] High Carbon Alloy; Long Life/Low Noise
Front rotor: CENTRIC 12540062 [Rotor] High Carbon Alloy; Long Life/Low Noise
$248.69 with shipping and taxes. I'm a "spirited" driver and like this setup. Zero noise, low dust, no complaints about braking performance (for a street car).

Lol i wouldn't say that. I work at a dealership and we resurface 90% of the brake jobs that come through the door unless it is severely rusted and cracked.

To each their own I guess. Take our rear rotors; they can be bought for $27 each at Autozone. I don't know why someone would pay $15-20 to cut a rotor they can replace for a few bucks more. The fronts for the 5AT TL can be had for $45 or so. They never stay wobble free for very long after they're cut, so I don't see the value.

I went on eBay and got slotted and drilled rotors with ceramic pads from BrakeMotive76:
Front (for the Brembo) $146.33
Rear $66.63
Shipping included in both orders, arrived in a couple of days... my only complaint is that *I* didn't read the listing well and thought I was getting front and rear, so I was surprised when just the front came and I had to order the rear separately... my own fault.
Oh, and don't forget to get wheel bearings, as long as you have it apart might as well replace those too, it will run you another $130ish...

Good to know, if I have problems with them I'll be sure to mention it here... their eBay score is 99.4% positive (I don't buy from sellers under 99%) with approaching 200K in sales, so hopefully any bad reviews were just a squeaky wheel making noise.

I'll try to remember to post here when I put 'em on and when I have to replace them again...
I have ceramics on my truck (2003 Ram 3500) and they've been on for years, they get squeaky every once in a while, but I frequently throw the dog from the back seat up to the front with 'em when some idiot decides I didn't need that 10 foot space in front of me.

rotors and pads have a DIRECT correlation with how hard and how often you press the brake pedal.
like to drag on the brakes to slow down before a red light? yep, you guessed it, the rotors are eating away at the pad!
emergency stop for 60ft? yep!!! pads were just eaten.

I put Centric 125.40062 rotors (premium with the black e-coating) on my TL-S sometime last year, and already one has warped (yes, it's warped, yes it was properly bedded, and no-rebedding it did not resolve the issue). Given the price point, and the fact that I found very few cases of this online, I ordered a second set last week to replace the first two. My Centric 125.40061 rotors (rear) seem to be just fine.
I can also vouch for the StopTech performance pads (309.10010/front and 309.05360/rear). Terrific performance, low dust, and dirt cheap by comparison.

Just took a video switch box and mini-camera which get activated when power is applied to the backup lights. Pics to follow!
What really pisses me off is the lack of turn signal mirrors on the '04/5/6. The first 3,000 2004's produced had Turn Signal Mirrors listed on the window stickers while the cars came without. Worse yet, the models above and below the TL, the RL and TSX had them for 2004 which means someone somewhere inside Acura screwed up!
Even more outrageous, the Nav on the '03/4 Accord had an INSTANTANEOUS MPG indicator! Now as Acura owners, don't we have the right to expect more, NOT LESS?

I have instant MPG on my '04 with Nav, maybe it's the hack, but I hit the "info" button under the screen and then select "trip computer" from the menu... it even gives me a fancy bar graph.
