Mobil 1 is fine.
OEM or Purolator filters.

You can get a 5qt jug of Mobil 1 at Walmart for like $20-$25.
They sell Purolator filters at Pepboys, forgot how much they are. I think less than $10.

thind720 04-14-2010 01:31 AM

Just stick with a good interval like around 5k miles and you should be fine.
You can go beyond that but I prefer to keep it at 5k.

A lot of people hate on Fram filters but I think they're ok. I guess...
They're usually cheaper than other brands though.

There are literally dozens of threads on this subject, ranging from scientific to opinionated.

Got to love these oil threads.

Any 5w-20 regular Dino oil with API certification that is on sale.

Got it from amazon with free 2 day prime shipping lol. The price has since gone up to 9.48 for 2 which still isn't too bad considering there's no tax and it's free shipping if you have prime.

Amsoil is the only oil that is ever inside anything I own with a motor. With the use of their filters you can safely have extended oil change intervals which saves you money and helps the environment. Please don't take my word for it do your own research. There is no better oil.

dajonx 04-14-2010 09:19 AM

For Amsoil EAO13 filter and Amsoil oil, does it really last 25,000 miles? How often do you change it?

Sandals 04-14-2010 09:29 AM

When i get to 60K i am switching to Lubro Moly, just as good as Amsoil but easier to get. They sell it at Napa.

25k miles is a lot for any kind of oil.

Yeah, which is why I'm kind of skeptical about their claim. But if that's really true and doesn't damage the engine, then that's awesome!

One of the mods, I can't remember which one, is acting as a guinea pig on this one. He is running extended length, and sending in the oil for sampling.
Amsoil is an extremely trusted name in the oil business, so if they say 25K, they have the evidence to back it up.
Most of us are unwilling to take the risk, so we just use the standard length changes.
I'm sure we will hear more on this in the near future.

tech_rcd 04-15-2010 08:26 AM

The 25,000 mile oil change is for normal conditions whatever that is. For extreme conditions which is what most of us drive in it is 15,000 or one year. I get to 15k before one year with my TL so I change it then. It is important to use thier Eao filters if your going to do extended oil drains. No problems for me and I have been using it for years!

Awesome! I can't wait to see the results!

Yes, I would use their EAO 13 (I think that's what is recommended on Amsoil's site for TLs). That's pretty awesome to skip every other routine oil change.

Do you think the quality of the oil and the performance it gives is well worth the premium paid on their products? I've read somewhere to use EAO 20, but that's not on Amsoil's recommended list of oil filters on their site...

You've really answered your own question.
If you abide by the extended length change, then you didn't spend any more money. You saved money:thumbsup:
Do to matching the flow of the filter with your Acura, I wouldn't recommend a different filter.

i think soo highly of mobil 1, that i put the dirty(5kmiles) oil in my lawnmower and if the wifes car is low i put some in there too...how bad could it be...

i think the bottom line, is this is all subjective, and as long as you follow drain intervals that meet the manufactures recommendations, you should be fine...

Link to PureOne, 2 for $9.48

Amazon prime for free shipping or make 3 orders (6 filters) for free shipping.

I like that idea! When I first bought my John Deere 42" lawn tractor three years ago, I changed out the oil very early with filter in the hope that the mower would last. I actually did that twice way before the suggested hours.
Only did I realize that the POS was really an MTD with green paint.
It uses nearly 1/2 quart of oil every 1 1/2 hours of cutting time.
Instead of giving it the best care, I could have been using my old oil, as it surely wouldn't have made any difference......as there probably aren't any rings to be found in the engine!

diskinnect 04-15-2010 04:29 PM

I personally use mobile 1 synthetic and it works great for me

princelybug 04-15-2010 04:50 PM

Whatever's on sale at the autoparts store, including the filter.

BradE 04-15-2010 05:10 PM

Everyone, it's Mobil, not Mobile.

amsoil and oem filter. Will never use anything but amsoil after the last oil change.

NAiL05 04-15-2010 06:54 PM

M1 when I am poor or I do not have anything around and Amsoil whenever I can get it.

I suggest getting off the OE filter.. not worth the money IMO.

Talk about extremes. You combine the best with the worst:rolleyes:

Seriously, there have been some pretty in-depth studies on this forum that included cutting several filters in half, and the OEM is not a high quality filter.
Since you are using Amsoil anyway, switch to the Ea Absolute filter.
You'll be glad you did:thumbsup:

S PAW 1 04-16-2010 11:54 AM

Alert

I just went to place an order with Amsoil, and the Ea013 is not available WTF!
I called tech service, and they said something happened just today, but don't know what, to cause them to discontinue that particular filter.

They are supposed to e-mail me an update when they figure out what is going on.......and I will pass it on.

S PAW 1 04-17-2010 06:58 AM

I have started another thread on the topic of the Amsoil Ea013 being discontinued.

It was found by the factory to have reached its capacity before the 25,000 mile mark.

It is discontinued, and no longer available. Amsoil recommends the WIX filter as replacement.

1fsthatch 04-17-2010 09:14 AM

i use cooking oil
