Glad you're okay, OP. In my opinion, whenever there's a gun involved, an iPad is a small price to pay.

BTW, that TL was the star of the show for sure...

^This. At everyone saying the OP should have a gun... Honestly, if he had a gun and brought it out it probably would have escalated into a really bad situation. The thief wouldn't have shot him over an iPad and by far the safest thing to do would have been to just hand it over and let them get out of there. Him pulling out a gun on someone with a gun already pointed at him would have probably gotten him shot... before the thief just wanted an iPad, all of a sudden there's a threat for the thief to be shot and you can believe he would have shot first.

A gun should only EVER be used in a last chance situation where there is no other alternative to save yourself or loved ones.

When hammering out deals like this, it should always be done during daylight and with other people around (which the OP did - so good on him for that). But doing it that late at night was just asking for trouble. Thank God nothing happened.

Damn dude. Close call right there. Now onto my story lol.

Couple of weeks ago I was selling a DeWalt drill to this guy. It was downtown so already I was feeling uneasy seeing that I lived on the east side of town where its mostly rednecks and lower middle class, so crime is a lot lower here. Anyway..I pulled under the I4 bridge and was even more concerned considering it ended up being a few roads away from the ghetto neighborhoods. I see the guy pull up and as I see him pulling up I realize that I parked directly in front of city PD headquarters LOL ..big sigh of relief.

Anyway I'm glad you three got away ..could've been worse.

I met a man and his buddy to sell them a laptop. No guns were used, but in the dark of of snowy night I didn't notice the $550 was all fake until I got in the car and handed the cash to my Banker girlfriend. She noticed right away. The cops came 45min later and took the funny money and handed me a paper to fill out. I didn't even get a chance to use it on a stripper or nothing! <--- jokin

Took me 6 months to be ok with the lesson learned.

As for carrying a gun to prevent robbery... I have chased men down the street with gun in hand after they robbed (grab and dash) my pawnshop. It's never been worth the horrid idea of taking their life over the item.. or the 3 year court battle to use the weapon. I carry to protect life, not items.

Glad your ok, hope the floor was clean. If you start a paypal donation, I'll toss in some $ to help get you back to square.

Nah I'm fine thanks though.

Thanks for all your concerns, but I was stupid not to ask a couple of friends to tag along. It wasn't THAT late. I did the sell at 8:15 which was still light outside. After calling the cops and stuff it hit about 9:15 and then the news lady just said 10. Lol

Lesson I learn was to be patient because I was in a rush to sell it not to think about what could happen if I was not careful n
