Best freebies / bonuses to negotiate for when buying
Hi folks,
I've done some searching and found a bunch of items that folks have been able to haggle for when purchasing a new TL.
Thought I'd list what I found so far and hope that others could add things on (I'm going to be buying a TL this week):
Free:
* Mudguards, Cargo Tray, Wheel Locks;
* No charge 1st service; or
* No charge oil changes for life of warranty / loaner car with oil changes.
What are some other key items to try for?
Scott

I don't know about down south but up here the first 2 services are complimentary by Acura. I did manage to get the wheel locks, rubber mats, and rear splash guards added to the deal.

I got nothing!
Dealer said they were throwing in the mud guards and body side molding…
I asked for free services, wheel locks, trunk tray, and an Acura hat. Acura of Memphis is the only Acura dealer in the area. They didn’t have to deal.

I don't think anyone got anything for free. You paid for it with an elevated sales price. I negotiated for my car first, then my accesories second, so I paid for them. But, overall I think I paid less than those who got "freebies" thrown in.
I got an '04 Navi w/ Splash guards and all season mats. I negotiated the price in July for $32.9k.

In Philly you shouldn't have a problem forcing a competition between dealers.
I negotiated a deal with my local dealership in Dayton, OH in July for a Sept delivery of an 04 (I know this is at the end of the model year, so that is some extra savings). The TL was our third car so we could afford to order it and waite 8 weeks for delivery. In this way I was very pleased with the deal we got:
- Anthracite / Ebony / Non-navi / 6-spd with wheel locks, trunk tray, all-season mats, and the rear lip spoiler for $30,399.
But, upon further reflection I would have traded all that extra stuff for a free set of new "aftermarket" tires. The car has 2,500 miles on it and I'm having them put on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's (at my expense). The EL42's were DANGEROUS in rain at highway speeds and I wasn't willing to waite 4-6 weeks before the area service manager came by to see the car. I didn't want my wife driving the car in snow with those horrible tires (so I was stuck with a $800+ bill).
At least now I can sleep at night!
FYI - My boss got an 05 with the Michelin MXM4's on it and they aren't much better.
Sorry for ranting...hope this helps....good luck

Well I knew going in that the dealer puts the Protection Package on the car so I discounted that from what I was willing to pay. I basically told the dealer, "You guys put it on the car. You pay for it." I got the trunk mat, splash guards, wheel locks, and door edge guards.

I got the wheel locks (didnt even know they were there). Loaner is standard at my dealer. I dont know about free oil changes as I kept my '04 for only 1400 miles and have about the same mileage on the '05. I know they have a very nice free breakfast though.

Thanks for all of the feedback-- got mud guards, wheel locks, trunk tray, and all season floor mats for free after finising price negotiation (2005 auto, non-navi, silver $32,500 including destination and fees).
