Best Battery to buy?

Sounds like a newb question, but I wanted to get some input on buying a new battery

Nothing wrong with my current battery... but i want to get something better, because of all the horror stories of OEM batteries.

I am running a 900.1 Amp with 1 12" 1500W Sub.. nothing to wild

What do you guys think? Kinda hoping to get input from people who have the battery they recommend... Braille? Optima (red) ?

^ i was thinking that.. the LW is a cool feature, but is it a "good" battery" how many CCA's is on that battery?

I wouldnt mind losing 15lbs off the engine bay, but i dont wanna buy a battery that wont last through a wonderful NY winter...

Nah, no capacitor.. my system isnt much... my lights dont even dim when i hit it... it does make some serious sound, but thats because i used the proper specs on the box and ran it bridged @ 1 OHM stable

honestly, I am having ZERO issues with my battery... but i know what a piece of junk this battery is...

the specs on that braille look nice..550CCA @ 0F... pretty impressive.. i think the OEM batter is like 600CCA at ambient temps (80F)

This is the battery I am running.
My personal opinion is that it is the best on the market.
And it just so happens to be the best looking too.

Optima Yellowtop is about $150 and is a damn good battery. It's a deep cycle so you can run your accessories while the engine is off for a long time and it'll still crank up fine. If you don't need a deep cycle, then the redtop is sufficient.

i was thinking the Red-top... but its still a 33lb battery... if the Braille is equally good, or better, i would rather shave 12lbs off my cars curb weight if i can.... every pound helps

allon the braille battery has really good amp ratings. if your system isn't that crazy it should perform nicely. cant beat the power to weight ratio. optimas weigh a ton. i still cant believe i had two in my other ride. my shit was heavy. when i redo my system im gonna skip the cap and run another braille in the trunk for my amps.

and looks so cool

here's my set-up

Cool

OK, but can the Braille 21 really give much cranking time? When its COLD REALLY COLD?

Like here in Minnesota say its -30F and your car has been outside in that cold wind until your Mobile 1 is like a slurpie.

First try for fire= no go, 2nd same, 3rd is it the little batt. that could or couldn't this is what I need! If you crank it like you life depended on it!! I thought it only came with SIZE. More plates and asid... Anyone out there have this kind of knowledge?

Used it on my motorcycle when I had one. They make batteries for cars as well. Whenever I went to a bike meet I always saw the older bikes had acid damage. Since there batteries are dry and sealed it was attractive. It has good cold cranking capability as well.

From a performance standpoint, I agree with you. In fact, I have this very battery, and it's great; power, warranty, and price are untouchable by anything else. However, it weighs a ton, and the OP is looking for weight savings in addition to performance. Given that, I'd have to go with the Braille.

jptl04... very nice setup! Do you have a link to the place you bought it at?
Also what's the major differences in Braille 21lb battery vs OEM, besides the weight ratio. (I'm a newb at batteries)

I'm having issues with my power. Sometimes my left switchback won't signal yellow, it's just white. Sometimes my rear view camera won't work when I put it into reverse. Sometimes my Navigation will work, but when I click "Audio" it doesn't go anywhere. I'm pretty sure this is a power issue, because after I drive or idle the car long enough, the problems go away.

jegs.com has the best shipped price, if you can get a local shop to aquire one you will save on shipping, on average expect to pay no less than $180 for the braille 21 pounder

Braille 21lb for a few months, no problems yet. Its starting to get colder out so we'll see how it is. Al - We have to see about relocating to the trunk soon.

Very nice looking. I was wondering ..... What is that chrome unit just to the left of the battery?

Is it an air horn compressor?
