Bay Area Dealer Advice
To all Bay Area TL drivers. I need recommendations for a Bay Area Acura dealer that will give me a freakin deal. I just got back from Acura of Pleasanton and they would not give me $32,500 (w/ all fees before tax) for a '05 SSM/Ebony 5AT w/Nav. I would really love some referrals to a dealer (hopefully sales person specific) who can get me that price. I am going to email Acura of Concord and Stevens Creek Acura and see if they are willing to get close or at that price, which I think is a very fair price. Thanks in advance people .

UPDATE: Marin Acura just quoted me ~$37K out the door and he said it is "impossible" to get it for 35-36K out the door. My search continues....

I was looking around via internet sales for a 6-speed w/navi with various Acura Dealerdships in the Bay Area and the lowest quote I received was $33,800 for NBP (before tax & license etc.). I'm trying to remember which dealership - it might have been Oakland Acura. That was about a month ago so I don't know if the market has changed much since then. I've put off getting a new car until at least this summer so I haven't been keeping up with the current going rate in the Bay Area lately.

I wouldnt expect to get 32500 for what you are looking for...I got a great deal last year from marin acura, but i guess you already ruled them out....good luck.

UPDATE: Steven's Creek just offered me an SSM/Ebony Navi AT for $36,736.36 out the door (~1200 above "invoice"). What do you guys think? Do you think I can work it down to a flat 36K?

David Woods at Marin Acura was the guy who I had help me with the purchase. He was pretty cool, there was another salesperson who helped me first and he didnt know shit, nor was he willing to discuss the price. As I was leaving David Woods came over to me and told me he could get me the 04 manual TL that I wanted for 2000 let than I was just quoted...I dont know if that was some dealer trick, but what the hell, I got my car for damn cheap, by CA standards at least.

I got my 04TL (6sp and HPT but no navi for under $31.8K) from Sunnyvale Acura and I dealt with Sam Samaha. I recevied the internet quote initially and dealed from there. They did play some dealer games, but overall, it was a good experience.
Here's my experience on the salespeople from various dealers.
Oakland Acura was by far the most professional and pleasant, but they would not budge on price.
Steven's Creek Acura herded us in and out like cattle, and my sales guy was totally ignorant about the car. Our test drive literally lasted 5 minutes before we were pressured out.
Mike Harvey Acura has some of the slimiest and unprofessional salespeople. These morons went as far as locking the door to prevent us from leaving while they were trying to force us to purchase the paint protection for $800.

In Nov. of 03 I had a good experience with the Salesperson at Sunnyvale Acura, but he changed to the Pleasanton dealership the day I took delivery.
For all dealerships - KNOW THE PRICE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BEFORE YOU PICK UP YOUR CAR. They tried to charge me $1,800 but came down to $1,150 when I showed them a print-out for an AcuraCare warranty that I got from an Acura dealer off the Internet.
The Finance guy actually lied to me and told me my Internet data was a scam, after he offered to take the $650 off. I checked it out, and then expressed my feelings when I got the surveys. I wasn’t happy with the service at Sunnyvale either.

Here is what I have learned so far:
Acura Of Pleasaton: The sales guy Justin was super nice and cordial, but as soon as he gave me to the "Pricing" guy Ruben, he straight told me to go somewhere else for a deal. What an ass without a professional bone in his body
Acura Of Oakand: Excellent email communication with John Bruno (Internet Sales Manager), but unwilling to move on the price of 34.5K before fees and tax.
Stevens Creek Acura: Excellent email communication with Ben (Internet Sales Manager), but gave me an out the door price based on Santa Clara County tax rate, not Alameda county (where I live). Also he is only giving me a 12K trade in value for my Altima.
...So that leads me to Marin Acura. They are "making some calls" to get a quote on my trade in and the manager told me "not to buy anything until Saturaday", which is when I can come into the dealership with my Altima. He is going to call me back by Friday with some out the door numbers, so I shall wait until then. Thanks so far to everyone who has offered their advice, but keep it coming. Much love to R.G. for the referral, they are definetly making the effort . I just hope I get what I want out of this deal, if not, no big deal. It's just a car.

Well my TL friends, some bad news. I won't be able to buy my TL for another 2-3 months (at the earliest). My bro just got laid off from his job (the firm's SF branch was bleeding money). My parents can't really support him completely at this moment since my dad just came off of disability and is on light duty and my bro has ~$60K in student loans from law school. So I must do my duty and pick up the slack by taking over the mortgage on my parents house (~$2100 a month). I love my family too much not to do this and of course it benefits me since I still get to have a roof over my head and my family with me. Oh well, the TL will always be there, but family is more precious than a car. Thanks again to everyone who has given me tips, advice and referrals. I wish I could go to the Feb Bay Area meet . Again, thanks everyone; this truly is a community . See you around the boards, because my ass ain't leavin .

For those of you still shopping prices in the bay area, I bought my 05 AT w/ Navi for $33,500 at Stevens Creek Acura. Dealt with George Zimmerer and found it to be a trouble free transaction. Just remember the end of the month is a good time to go in there, and if you can get the vehicles as they are coming off the truck you probably have more negotiation room as no dealer wants to pay interest on the vehicle while it sits on the lot.
Happy hunting.
