Battery Died... AFTER 4 MONTHS!
I put a new OEM Acura battery July 4th weekend in my 08 TL-S (bought car used without OEM battery, and samller in size too). Yeah, I know... should have reserached it first to find out how bad Acura batteries were.
This morning as I go to start it, NOTHING! Not even the slighest egine noise.
So I just called Advanced Auto Parts, and got them to deliver "the best battery they had in stock."
Now, can I just go to any Acura dealership to get a (prorated?) refund on the Acura Battery, or do I need to go to the one I bought it from?
TIA!

Sorry to hear about your battery problems.
I don't think Acura will refund you anything for the battery. They are obligated (under warranty) to provide you with a functioning battery for a period of time. The proration only works as a "credit" toward a replacement battery.
If you take that back to Acura, they will more than likely give you a free replacement. I suggest you take that battery back to Advanced and take advantage of the Acura warranty and keep getting it replaced FREE until the warranty expires.

First go to the dealer with the dead battery. Tell them to check and and see how dead it is. They will give you a refund for your new battery (take the recipt) and if they want to be rude and are just giving you a new battery, but it in the trunk and go to an audio shop and sell it to them for 40 or so dollars.

Any chance you guys know the specs on the OEM Acura batteries? I want to compare it to the new one I bought.
Thanks guys, just the advice/answer I was looking for!

the batteries that acura puts in at the factory aren't the best in the world. As well the TL draws quite a bit of the battery when it is off. Just as a little background info, once a battery is discharged, it cannot recharge to the same level. So when the TL slowly eats the battery, it can never be fully recharged. This process repeats and thus kills the factory battery. The ones that the dealers sell are a bit better lasting, but the same result occurs.

Just out of curiosity, did you happen to notice if your outside temperature display was displaying flatlines? If so and if you let your car sit for several days, your battery will drain down to almost zero output. If not and you have been driving your car on a daily basis with your July battery, then either you received a defective battery that fails to hold a charge or your car's charging system is bad. Other factors could also exist.

How about this one.. The day I picked up my car, they had it ready to go. Spent 10 minutes on showing me things on the navi and when I went to start it, it was dead as a hammer. So far, it seems to be ok, but I will be replacing it as soon as I see any change in it.

Geez, that's crazy. That's why I changed mine right away. I traded in my TSX which had the Optima battery. The battery was fairly new and not cheap, so I wanted to exchange it with the battery in the TL-S. My sales guy even gave me a hand with it. Switched them out before driving off the lot.

i had my battery die on me earlier this year (first, OEM). had it replaced by the dealer no questions asked with another, much newer Acura battery that said a 100K/mile warranty.
we'll see how long this will last. my first one died after a year and five months.

I had about 30,000 miles on my 07 TL-S and battery went dead. My particular situation I sit for at least an hour everyday with it idling. I am wondering if at idle the alternator doesn't "excite" enough at idle to charge the battery. Plus the excessive engine temps at an idle for an hour might shorten the battery life.

SouthernBoy: I didn't notice anything with the temp. and it was driven on a daily basis.
FWIW, the battery I purchased from Acura was the one with 100 month warranty. I'm really hoping it was just a defective battery, and not something with the car.
The new one I put in is an AutoCraft Titanium from Advanced Auto Parts. This has a higher CCA (700) and I *think* a higer RC as well. Couldn't find the RC on Acura's battery. The AutoCraft batteries are manufactured by Johnson Controls, the same comapny that makes the Optimas I think.
It's such a PITA when a battery just suddenly dies. Really messes up your day.
