My low fuel light comes on at 4 gallons - thus the entire calibration is off --anyone experienced similar problem?

This is on purpose and by design...based on calculations people have worked out on this forum, the light goes on with multiple gallons left and the MID shows 0 miles till empty with 3 gallons left. It is a "safety feature". Since you know there is 3 gallons left when the MID shows 0, you can decide how much further to go!

When you factor in the 3 gallon reserve, the calculations are right on the money.

I purchased a 2003 Civic and the salesman told me it's best not to get below 1/4 of a tank because that's where sediment and dirtiness tends to build up, affecting engine performance. Could Acura be trying to feign an almost empty tank so people will buy more gas before it gets to this point? Four gallons left is roughly 1/4 a tank.

mr. superlove, your gas tank ALWAYS draws fuel in from the bottom of the tank - that's where the fuel inlet is. The level of gas in your tank will not change that.

The 1/4 tank thing is a myth.
