I'm just playin.
It's just a lot more "mod" than it needs to be is all.
I can only imagine he stuffed a set of 9006 HID retro bulbs in the hole... it's just a silly amount of light, and as Rodney noted, is probably more of a traffic hazard than anything.
I can see fine at night with my little crappy 5 smt leds...

this is the 3-LED bulb I bought locally. shot at 1/2000 sec to accurately show the 3 LEDs inside a wide angle housing. I have these in the four upper dome lights (2 front, 2 rear), door lights and in the license plate housing (total of 4 pairs altogether).
this is what it looks like in real-time, 1/60 sec shot, as it is mounted on the license plate light bulb housing:
this is the recent pair I bought from autolumination. it has 5 LEDs but they are not encased in a housing to properly disperse the light. it will fit in the same locations as the bulb I have above. here you can see 3 of the 5 LEDs as I shot it at an angle (1/2000 sec):
this is what it looks in real-time, 1/50 sec shot, as it is mounted on the reverse light bulb housing:
here is their comparo : the 5 LED bulb on the driver left (near camera), the 3 LED on driver right (near the refrigerator). shot in real time, 1/2 sec.:
another angle, still the same orientation, shot at 1 sec:
this is the most telling comparison, almost directly from the rear. shot at 1/3 sec:
the 5 LED is definitely brighter, and the pictures (as close as I can get them shot without unusually long exposures) are as close as I can get them to being accurate in real-time.
hope this helps

I'm having a hard time distinguishing between what you exactly used. It seems the 3LED you bought locally is what you used inside & outside. Is this correct? If so, can you tell me what that 3LED is exactly called?
I've read Kennedy's original post (#111) back in March 07 and I saw some of your replies as you were particularly interested in not getting the "blue" hue.
It appears you have achieved what you consider to be a very nice LED set-up, inside & out.

The interior bulbs I bought locally, but they have an online website. I havent bought from them online though. here's the site: (http://www.brm21.com/US/bulb_e.html). I bought 4 pairs of the the 194s. 2 pairs for the interior lights, 1 pair for the doors and 1 pair for the license plate. I liked the amount of light they produce. definitely brighter than stock but not too bright, and has a clean, crisp white color. they only look blue in the pics because of the auto white balance of the camera, they are really white in person.
the reverse LEDs I bought from autolumination after reading the research Kennedy did. it is brighter than the ones for the interior, and is well suited for reverse light duty. it is a more intense white, again without a hint of blue unless through a camera. if Kennedy's upcoming test on the 18-LEDs proves satisfactory, I may move the reverse lights I have now to the door lights, save the ones from there as spares, and put the 18-LEDs on the reverse.
hope this helps

I love this site but everytime I end up on it, I wind up buying something else. Loved this thread and decided to order all the led's for the car. I ordered the same 18 light led as above for the backup lights. I hope they are as good as they look. I will know by next week. Thanks guys for the info.

Since they are for the back up lights, I won't get a warning on my MID right? the draw doesn't matter in this case, correct?
I need to order these, my camera is too damn dark.

for the 194 bulbs for the license plate lights, which one do I get from v-leds? they have 4 led, 6 led, I just want to get the right size, same 'bulbs' are big, so I'm worried they may not fit.
Thanks guys!

Rodney, my friend did that in his audi, he removed the rear foglights, and install 6000K HID, now who ever tailgates him, he flashes those monsters....a bit too risky for me, but definitely works!

Got your PM.
I just ordered these badboys:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-WHI...spagenameZWDVW
They use the same kind of LEDS I reccomended last year. The previous version used 5. This one uses 18!
Finally, an LED option I believe will outshine an incadescent bulb.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Hurry up and install them so I can take a look at them.
I'll order a set myself as well, but I wanna see your pictures first.
By the way, thanks for your reply.
I got them opened, took me a few tries but I think I've made a better tool here to make life easier on my end.

As far as warranty, It's your bulbs : so no warranty will be voided. If dealership tells you that it is, then please repeat the steps above.

18 LEDs 7443 7440 are in, but problem!
Kennedy I need your help because I'm not sure what I've done wrong. I recently installed the 18 LED 7443 7440 (right & left turn signals).
When I tested the right & left turn signals, the new 18 LED 7443 7440 blinks rapidly as opposed to the normal blinker frequency.
What do you attribute this to?

Answer to my own question....
but more than I want to get into......
I thought this mod was a simple plug in. After reading the fllowing it doesn't appear to be that simple.
Turn signal issues with LED bulbs
"LED brake/tail lamps will not flash with thermal flasher units due to their extremely low current draw. Some cars indicate this by increasing the flash rate of the turn signals, some do not flash at all. This can be remedied with load resistors wired across the turn signal bulbs to simulate a filament bulb load. One way to test this is to pull out one of your blinker bulbs. If you get a bulb out warning or rapid flashing, you will need load resistors."
The Load Resistor Kits & Connection Instructions seem elaborate.
These baby's are going back to V-leds!

BK11, pretty new to LEDing? We talked about this on many threads.
You will need load resistors of course, but don't return them to V-LEDs. (Or you can keep them flashing fast, some people actually like it like that (Kennedy))
They are worth the effort and easy to install. Just search the threads on the topic, Kennedy and I have discussed this topic at length.

......now if I can only get to that anti-theft and "Dual" LEDs with blue, I'll be done....
