I have a friend that's a good wrench and had a rack in his garage for working on his cars. He's in a new place with no rack set up yet, but help is available.

I have changed brake pads before and from the photos located in another thread it looks simple enough. No special tools being required.

Engine oil and filter change plus the inspection was $45.00.

Passenger seat heating element would be $474.00 for parts and labor.

Front brake pads are in need of replacement and would cost (for Brembo's) $405 for pads and labor Gearshiftsol. I didn't ask whether this included turning the rotors.

So now for some brake shoes. Anyone in Portland have any recommendations?
What should this cost? My dealer is telling me $400!! For oil, tire rotate, 2 airfilters? Sheesh!

Apart from reviving a 13 year old thread, I would find a different dealer. A decent independent shop likely wouldn't even charge $200 for those services.

Well, considering the costs have gone up significantly in the 10+ years since this thread started, not sure why you are surprised??

Oil Change at a Dealer - $70-125
Tire Rotate/Balance - not sure here, I haven't paid for this service in years....Costco performs this free for their tires
Engine Air Filter - I have never paid for this...so easy - filter is under $25
Cabin Air Filter - This is pricey if you pay for it, there is a mod to cut an access hole behind the glove box so you can swap the filters yourself for under $20

If you aren't handy with a car, find a different shop, or even consider just going to your local Honda dealer. Every dealer is different on service level and pricing. I took my TL to my local Honda dealer for maintenance that I didn't or couldn't perform on my own. I only went to Acura when it was something specific to the TL that wasn't shared with the Accord.
