B1 Service?

B1 Service?
I took my 06 TL in for the second service .. (B1 freebee) and the dealer said part of it was they took off all the wheels and "serviced" the brakes. What do they actually do in this "service". They said something about making sure everything was running free so there wasn't premature brake wear. Not just visual inspection.
If there is a DIY for this I'd rather do it myself. I declined them as I have after market wheels and don't like dealers pulling them .. too many bad experiences with dropping wheels .. leaning wheel on wheel and marring the lips .. over torquing .. etc etc etc .. you know the story.
I have the tools/jack/torque wrench and apptitude just need a good "real" DIY.

Doesnt sound like anything more than to just see if everything is obstruction free. I would just assume that it involves looking at brake lines, pad thickness, and rotors. Make sure no scoring/grooving and eye up the pads to make sure nothing has broken away from them.
aside from that, it sounds like it isnt too major a service.

I deleted your new thread, since it didn't get a reply yet, and moved this thread here, where it should have been posted in the first place.
It looks like 722ish gave you a good reply, and I agree with it. Nothing more than a visual inspection.
If you have your own tools and like to do your own work, then you can rotate the tires yourself and perform this job each time you do a rotation. For free. The dealer was just looking for some easy profit, since the B1 is oil and filter change, and tire rotation, and if they had the wheels off they should be looking for problems anyway, without an extra charge.
And why aren't you doing your own oil and filter changes?

As far as doing my own oil changes .. the first 2 services are free so why should I .. second -- the car won't clear my ramps and third-- I changed my own oil for 40+ years and built more engines than most of you in here have ever driven and I just don't want to any more... and the dealer change is only $40 and I don't have to deal with old oil disposal.
I do my own rotation ... correctly.
722ish gave me an assumption.

^^ lighten up bro. for someone who wants to do their own tire rotations ( detailing, mods...) for fear of not having them not done correctly it is not unreasonable for others to assume that you change your own oil either.
