Auto on/off headlights?

the mdx has auto on/off lights, when i get a chance i'll read the schematics and see how they did it for that car

Other alternatives is to google for DEI 545T Night-Lite modules that can be installed on our cars.
It will provide Auto ON headlights/parking when it gets dark and also can be wired in with the wiper so that the lights comes on with the wipers so as to meet some local state laws were you need to have your lights on during the daytime when it's raining.
