Applying Your Own Tint

Applying Your Own Tint
Has anyone applied their own tint?
On my previous ride, I did my own tinting and it came out alright, but it was an easier job I would think. It was a 97' dodge, so taking off the door panels etc was easy to get the tint applied correctly. Plus on my dodge the windows weren't inside of a frame (window came up from the inside of the door frame and top was naked). I was looking at the doors/weather seals of the 04' TL and it looks like it will be more difficult to get that tint on appropriately.
Then I started reading some threads on here about the dots on the back window, and using GEL... then some people are talking about using vinyl on the antenna as opposed to tinting over it... I couldn't find any threads of self-done tint jobs in the few minutes I looked. Am opening a bag of worms trying to tint this thing myself?
I would imagine one or more have tried doing it themselves and have had success. Any pointers or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I would say have a pro do the back window, and you can do the rest yourself if you're confident & have the skillzz ..

I have no experience on the TL but I've done other cars and it's not bad, save for the rear window. If you want to be frugal, do the main windows yourself and have the pros do the rear. Get yourself the right tools to do the job too. They aren't terribly complex or expensive.

your driving a luxury car... just pay to get it done right... Don't go the rice route where your shit will fade purple or you'll have nothing but air bubbles everywhere. Say what you will but a NBP owner would never of asked this questions :o )

www.concordwindowfilms.com. They sell great tint, colors too. If your going to do the rear window I suggest you do it in a three peice method, rather than the two or one peice method.

Nobody is a do-it-yourself-er when it comes to tint?
Found a note via google on molekin, but this forum strips out the URL when I try and paste it in.
I don't know... I haven't tried it yet... but before I posted I bought the tint and tools so I'm thinking of just going for it. Like I said, I did it on my previous car (that I had for 6 years) and it never bubbled, peeled, flaked, distorted, discolored, etc... must have done something right. What's the worst that could happen
... yes I know how much removing tint sucks... I've done that too. That, REALLY sucks...
How much did you guys generally pay for the full-bore tint job? A couple hundred?

I used to tint cars and would prefer to do my own tint, only problem is finding the tint....tinting companies won't sell the tint to DIY's....
I have tried to get 3M, LLumar, Formula 1 etc to sell me a bulk roll of ceramic tint and they all refused me...
Anyone know a contact that can sell me some good quality ceramic tint?

"....heatgun from lowes, film doesn't freaking shrink... I just ended up letting a pro put ceramic Formula 1 (you need this if navi) on the rear window and it looks great and got it out of the way. So my 2 cents, let a pro do it or only do the side windows. Believe me, I learned the hard way and I'm quite hard-headed, so I learned this lesson the hard way.[/QUOTE]
Yup Like I said Just let the pro do the back window and you can do all the sides with the molskin.
