It wasn't hard. It just took a lot of time and patience.

Once you get the light out, what do you do.
Break the waterproofe seal and pry it open?
re seal w/ silicone?

How do you get teh piece out, a solid part that will just pop out when opened and then all set?

What kind of turn signal bulbs does the TL use? I was wondering if you could replace them with those LEB bulbs they sell, after clearing them headlight out. You know, those little 12-19 LED bulb clusters.

front turn signal bulbs are style 7443, the rear turn signals are 7440. yes they have replacements available in the LEDs, but the head of the lamp might be too wide to fit through the opening. I need to investigate further!!

Hey BDI, I like the way your painted headlights look. It gives it a very unique look I've never seen before. Where do you get that tint spray and how much does it cost?

Yeah I can get custom clear lens made but they will be expensive and it will take about a month or longer.. Even with the clear lens it will be illegal. As long as you have a amber - red - orange bulb you wont get pulled over. Ive had a superwhite bulb in mine for over a yr without any problems.

It was harder than the second gen because the orange just pops right out... The orange is piece is attached to the little center rod. I had to drill it out from the back it wasnt that bad at all.

How long does it take? One of my friend did it on his Civic I think. 1st time, 1 hr 30 min. Said it wasn't bad. Can I drive to NJ and we can double team it, and I drive away?

That is pretty good for the first time.. A problem with the TL headlights are that they are huge. they didnt fit inside the oven with the door closed. :lol2: I visit my friend that lives outside of Hartford at least once or twice a month. Let me know if you want to drive down and drop of the headlights. It will save you a 4 to 5 hr ride. I will be there this weekend if you want to drop off on Saturday. PM me if you are interested.

Think he boiled them in a wok, lol. Sounds like TL has big headlights. Can't actually drop them off because I don't have the car. Take delivery around April 7th, so soon! Prepare to be pm'd in a couple weeks

so Dan, how do you think your work turned out! Looks great I think!?!?! Only thing I am worried about is a leak or condensation build up, I will be sh!tt!in bricks the first time it rains or I wash it LOL!!! cross your fingers that my rims come in tomorrow, I am really tired of my car lookin ghetto fab. I had to drive around a week without headlights, and now I have the UGLIEST spare I have ever seen on my car...looks like an overgrown spider is stuck on my rims.

i've done my corners on civic with a friend and then we did his a few months after, another civic. both times we used hair dryers for a long time along with a screwdriver to get the silicon off.

if i could go back and do it again i'd just stick it in the oven and see how that works. i think the headlights posted above are the meanest looking mod that i've seen for the car. very good taste.

So now you can actually clearly see the bulb!? How does that look at night?

Is there an amber bulb in now, or is that the stock bulb?

Lightbulb Leaving lower piece in

i was looking closely at the headlights today...just wondering if the orange parts are two separate pieces? if they are, and since it's illegal to have clear corners without amber bulbs, can you just take out the upper piece and leave the lower piece in so that it will still be considered legal? i dunno maybe someone can do a quick photochop of this. What do you think Mr. ? Will this look good? Maybe what you can do is when someone sends another 04 headlight for you to do you can take a quick snapshot of the lights with the lower orange piece left in?

maybe I'm stupid, but wouldn't that defeat the entire purpose of "clearing" the headlight out? Why wouldn't just leave it alone then and not do anything?! If everyone is so paranoid about the illegality of removing the amber, you can simply put a piece of orange reflector tape on the bumper. but again, ADDING any amber, whether reflector tape etc, would just defeat the purpose!

am I missing something?

Its 1 big piece. If someone would like to leave jus tthe lower part orange I can cut the top piece off and leave the bottom... That will make it unique and legal. But that would defeat the purpose of cleared but everyone has a different sense of style and it might even look good..

Just like Vegas said. You can put a piece or orange reflector on your bumper and that would count. A lot of cars are doing that now. Cleared headlights will orange reflectors on the bumpers...

it was just a thought...it would still make it look different thatn stock but still be considered legal...and besides mr said that it won't work ..he's the expert...

How hard is it to pull the HL ass'ys? When I had my bumper cover off doing the CAI, it wasn't obvious how they would come out.

Once you have the bumper off its pretty easy.. There are 2 bolts on the top and 3 under. (10mm)... Unclip the harness that are connected to the bulb... Then just pull the headlight away from the car.

I can do that for you. That wouldnt be a problem at all... I would just modify the orange reflector.. If you look at Vegas. The orange reflector would only cover the chrome piece that is at the ends. You would still be able to see the bulb...
