Anyone have 245/40-17

It is time for the snow's to come off and I am buying the Eagle F1's on. I want to put on 245/40-17 to give a little tighter sidewall and to try to protect my rims a bit. Is anyone running this size? Kind of hard to find them in this size, but its what I want.

Before anyone attacks, I know it will throw my speedo off by about 2%

This will be my choice as well. The F1s are THE top rated tire by Consumers.

I don't know if I will wait until the Turanzas wear out or not.

I look forward to your comments.

Speedo? What Speedo? (LOL)

245/40/17 is significantly smaller than the stock; approximately 1" smaller, did you mean 245/45/17 or 245/40/18. I'm running the F1-GSD3. I love them but I'm running the 24/45/18. I think it would look really bad with that small sidewall on a 17" wheel.

It is not too significant. The sidewall difference is only 0.3" for a diameter diff of only 0.6". The rolling circumf is off by by 2", so the speedo error is only 2.4%. Less than 2MPH at 70 MPH

Can you get that size in an F1? Looking at Tirerack, I don't see a 245/40-17 F1 GS D3 listed. They have a 35 and a 45 section with the 245/45 -17 at 0.4 inches larger OD. The 245/45-17 size will be my next tire - likely the F1. A little more rim protection and fills up the gap some!

The Goodyear site says they make it in that size and Discount Tire says they can get it direct from Goodyear. But I think you guys are right, I would rather it fills the gap a bit and stick with the 245/45
