Anyone ever notice this?
Has anyone ever read the sticker in the door opening? It says "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 395kg or 850lbs". I wonder why and what would happen if I did. I often take my family out to dinner on the weekends, mother grandmother and father, and they are not exactly slim people. I fear that I am pushing the 850lb weight limit if not exceeding it. I think it may be a transmission issue so when we go out I try to take it easy and not accelerate hard. Just curious.

Basically beyond 850 pounds, the TL's suspension and tires will be overburdened and will not work as they should. So.. take it easy (I assume you are) when you drive with a full load.

Keep Right Except to Pass
Yes, above 850 pounds the rear of the car in particular will ride too low. 850 pounds is really kind of absurd as a lower limit. Last year on Mother's Day I went golfing with my father, mother, and brother and we took the TL. Four people (especially if three of them are men weighing over 200 pounds) and four sets of golf clubs will easily put you over the 850 pounds, and the rear of the car was sitting too low—it was sitting like one of those old American clunkers driven by an illegal immigrant family who feel the need to put the entire extended family in the car every time they go anywhere.
Anyway, it definitely handled a lot worse than normal on the highway on- and off-ramps. I don't recommend it.
