Acura targeted the same demographics as BMW with the 3/5 series..what did you expect? You want to sell a lot of cars, you better appeal to both genders . Ladies buy (or influence the purchase of) a very large percentage of vehicles.

Exactly!

There are car driven by women and then there are "chick cars"--not the same thing. Chick cars NEVER have 6MT's. And chick cars are never purchased to be driven; they're either to be seen in while getting from point A to point B or to be just transportation.

Just because many women drive the TL doesn't make it a chick car. People--men and women--buy TLs because they desire them--they desire to drive them. When my wife drives our TL, she DRIVES it. She says to me that she loves second gear--all the way to redline. She's already driven it harder than I have. If that makes it a "chick car", then you've got a different idea of chick car than I do.

Nicely said dogg..TL ain't no chick car cuz women drive em. I've seen women drive denalis, corvettes, s class, and a lot more, and so thats considered a chick car just cuz women drive in them. Chick cars are like cars that has like 90 percent of women drivers. Something thats petite, compact like the jetta. I'd say the tl is a very diverse car.

I always figured the TSX was the chick car and the TL was the old person car. That's how it seems here at least.

I care.

My friend Amanda is a (hot, according to most guys) mechanic and she's been driving stick since she was 14. She's in college now, but she's been trying to save up for a 6MT Black on Black TL or G35 coupe (probably the TL cause it costs less). Right now she has a Mitsu 3000GT, tinted windows, lowered, new suspension, and with new headers and some interior mods too. All the work was done by her. People laugh at my friend John when he says that he has the privaledge of her LETTING him drive her car.

This is not a knock on you, but I drive a 6MT. There are plenty of men out there who owns 5AT, I don't think they're less of a man than a guy who owns a 6MT, and I think it's just a preference thing. I do see alot of TL drivers these days, but they're mostly men.

Thanks Jersee Girl.

Your talking about me.

Actually I bought this car for my wife, but I drive it more than she does.

If I buy another one it will definitely be the 6MT.

(but I really have my eye on the NSX)

However with the AT you can still get up and go.

Your car looks great by the way.

I did notice that more women than men drive the TL, I live in Orange County by the way. It's no big deal, with the 19" gunmetal rims with chrome lip, my car looks agressive enough. As soon as I get it dropped, it will look even better. If I catch a woman driving a TL, I'll compliment her on her good taste

One thing I've noticed though is that I have not seen one modified TL on the road, not even an A-spec. Every single TL I've seen is bone stock. I saw one with the stock rims chromed, that's as far as I've seen anyone go around here. It's definitely a contrast to the number of Altima's and 300C's I see sittin on 20's.

Haha it's like deja vu. I started a thread like this in the TSX forum you should look at what the TSX owners thought. I was thinking that the TSX has a lot of more female drivers now than male owners. But, the TL? Most of the time I see either older 35-60 males driving it and some mothers and MILF's driving it.

But no matter how many guys or girls drive the TL, the car will always look sporty and not girly... so it's a plus for the guys?......

Simply put, no. As TME said, it's a sporty car, not a distinctly male or female car...in other words, whoever drives it looks cool.

For the record, everyone I've actually seen driving one here is 30's+, 3/4 male, 1/4 female...only place I see younger folks is here.

I was at an Acura dealership for service last week and they had their 2006 salesperson training brochures out to page through. In it, they stated that their target market was 1. Men who wanted performance and 2. The "value" shopperwho wanted something nice for the money.

The brochure also said that their sales demographics have been 60% male and 40% female... with an average age of 45.

Personally, I don't see too "old" people driving the TL... but that might be just because they can't be seen behind the steering wheel

Here in Central Pennsylvania where I live, 80% of the TL's I see are driven by males in their 30's. The females I see driving a TL are usually older.....mid to late 40's. The other 20% are mostly males in their 20's. I've yet to see any teenagers in my area who are lucky enough to have a TL.

Not that it really matters, it seems to be 50/50 here in NJ when it comes to TL drivers. I honestly see more women driving the G35 sedan than men....and vice-versa on the coupe. But I would still get the G35S/X.

As far as image goes (which is what I think the original poster is referencing), the TL will never be the "chick" car that the ES330 is (and I35 was) and none exactly scream 'VW CABRIO.'

If a dude is so insecure about whether the TL is becoming a "chick car", then he needs to get an F-150 (or something) to substitute for his perceived lack of testosterone.

Enjoy the ride and dont be concerned about who has the same.

Here's what I think. Chicks love things, therefore chicks love cars. Thats all there is to it. Doesn't matter what kind of car. Sorry if you think my remarks are sexist, I'm just being truthful.
