Anyone with anything Plasti-dip... I found a neat trick

Well I've noticed that my plasti dip rims and grille were dulling over time. Really didn't want to take the wheels off and hit them with another coat to get that deep black look back so I tried something new that's worked well in the past on my weather strip.

It holds up pretty well on the weather strip so ill see how long it holds up on the wheels

Grille came out even better

This is great. Thanks for sharing this, I will redo my grill and apply this, it almost looks gloss black.

Heads up btw, plastidip released a "pearl" spray. http://www.plastidip.com/blog/2012/1...-than-charlie/

Plastidip FTW, I also like Back to Black, I use it instead of tire shine so it's like new but not ghetto glossy. Just did my grill and rear emblem with Plastidip and now I kinda wanna do my whole car lol.

I got a couple cans of blaze blue that I'll play around with. Any color enhancer product for colored plasti dip?

Has anyone had problems with plasti-dip turning almost a powdered grey look after spraying? I dipped all my wheels and only one turned out acceptable. Im just wondering if I sprayed too much at once?

How long did you wait between coats? Its just weird that the 1 wheel I only did 1 coat on was a really nice black and the other 3 wheels with 3 coats turned out a crappy looking flat black/ dark grey.

Waited about 15-20 minutes

Have any pictures of your wheels?

Ill see if I can upload some before shots of them. I just painted my car and I ended up stripping the plastidip off and used a Euro Trim Black on the wheels. I like the way the trim black looks but it has no sort of protection like the plastidip does. Im concerned about the longevity of the paint now so in the future I may reapply plastidip to them if I can figure out what caused my problems before.

I bought 2 cans of white and 4 cans of pink when I did mine. If you are using blaze colors you want to put down 2 or so coats of white before switching to color.

That will give it the pop color. If you use black base coat it will look darker.

Look at "the machine" engine covers. That is blaze purple with a black base coat I do believe.

I'm really tempted to buy the pro car kit but I can't decide what color I want. I don't want it overly loud like Monster Green or Firebelly Orange but the plain black is a little played out. My wheels still look great and I did a really half assed job lol.

It doesn't hold up long but it's a great quick fix other than redipping the wheels

Does it hold up longer than a couple weeks? I found tire shine brings plastidip back to a really dark black, but it's only good for like 2-3 weeks. And if you're driving while it's raining it fades right away
