I bought a Team Voodoo spun titanium shift knob. I really like it because it reduces the height of the shifter dramatically. I'll post pics later on tonight.

That depends. I was going for a really simple look. Nothing fancy at all. Just a round titanium knob. I didn't even get it engraved because I liked it plain.

I am biased because I have one of course....

I replaced both the stock knob AND the boot. I went with the MOMO Combat EVO (carbon), and the MOMO performance shift boot. The new shift knob screws into the boot for a flush look. Overall I feel it Looks MUCH better than stock, but am contemplating swapping these for a custom MOMO blue stitched knob/boot combo (to match the stitching in the A-Spec steering wheel). I have to engineer this myself as MOMO only offers the blue stitched knob/boot with a blue center (I want carbon).

MOMO Combat EVO

MOMO Performance Boot (shift knob not included)

I have a pic of the install in the car, but don't have a way to host it.

I've been waiting for this Evo F16 Carbon in aluminium finish like the second one. That will match the stock aluminium trim on console. Dunno if MOMO will ever make it.

Nodoze, send it to joganjani@hotmail.com and I'll host it. Also wants to see it myself. How difficult it is to change the boot?

Joganjani,

I just sent the pic on over. In regards to changing the boot I opted for the easy method, and trimmed the stock pleather off with a razor blade, and inserted the new one. The MOMO boot is about 3 to 4 times as thick as the stock material, which presented a bit of a problem initially trying to re fit the trim plate. I still intend to trim a bit off of the MOMO boot to allow it to fit a bit better. All said and done about an hours worth of work.

Hey Pooch,

Do you notice any difference in shift feel with the new shift knob? I understand the weight of the knob contributes to shift feel.

TIA,

Don

I had already installed the CT short shift on the car, but after I put the Voodoo knob on, the throws were even shorter than before. The reason being that the Voodoo knob screws all the way down on the lever and the threading is almost to the top of the knob. This contributes to the lever being shorter than before.

The shifts are shorter, and slightly notchier because of the reduction in height. It does have a substantial heft to it, so it feels good while shifting also. Hope this explains...

I am seriously debating the CT SS kit for my ride as well. Can you comment on the notchiness? How severe is it? Have you ever ground gears due to the change? Any missed shifts? Would you recommend this mod? They claim a 38% reduction in shift throws, would you concur?

Also from an install perspective, did you tackle this one yourself? I looked over the install instructions and was amazed at how many components needed to be removed in order to add this part!!

Thanks Emu!!

I love it, but am not totally satisfied yet! I would really like to play off of the A-Spec steering wheel stitching (i.e. have the same stitching on the knob and boot). Stay tuned for phase 2!!!

Love the short shifter. I did not grind gears after I got it, but effort was definitely higher. It took me about a week to get used to the extra effort. Mind you, it wasn't uncomfortable, it just felt unusual at first. Now, I don't notice it at all. I would say there is a very obvious reduction in shift throws (38% might be correct and it seems reasonable).

I would recommend the mod, but I didn't tackle it myself. It was very involved, and it took my dealer close to 3 hours! The labor cost me much more than the actual part itself. But I would do it again.

I picked them both up online at a MOMO retailer. All said and done about 80 for the knob, and another 50 for the boot (which is 100% genuine leather, not pleather like the stock boot).

After carefully looking at the different shifter replacement knobs options. The stock Aura shifter looks better than the others.
Why screw up a nice car?

To each his own. The stock knob/pleather boot is 'nice', but I prefer the MOMO components as they are real leather and are of a MUCH higher quality. Additionally I am familiar with the shift pattern of the vehicle and don't need it displayed to me each time I drive!

I agree, the stock shifter's style looks right for the car. Alot of the aftermarket shifters look nice stading alone but often just look out of place in the car.

Hmm..I thought so. I do not like any other at all but will look at Air Alum or Carbon Shot by momo. They are not this tall.

Ahhh the Shadow! I had this on my old car (before it was stolen) loved it, but wanted to go with something new for this car. I think you will like it! On another note, if you have not bought your boot, and are interested in one PM me as I am selling my current MOMO boot!
