You want to use some kind of thermal barrier with a reflective coating (Aluminized) to reflect infra-red heat away. Foam is hard to use on anything but straight tubing/pipes.

I wrapped my PS steering line with Aluminized Fiberglass heat wrap because the Accords don't have a recall for the PS hose leaking, like the TL. I was going to do the A/C lines coming off the compressor, but there's barely any room to work. When I take off the fan to install my PCDs, I'll probably wrap them up.

Maybe; I've never really looked around HD for something like that. I used aluminized fiberglass heat wrap from Ebay.

If I was to do it again, I would probably use the newer Lava Rock/Titanium heat wrap. The fiberglass gets everywhere when you're working with it and might be harmful, like asbestos, in the long-run.

You can wrap all of your lines with the heat wrap and then use aluminum/metal tape from HD/hardware store to cover it. The reflective barrier is the most important part.

FYI, I believe the updated PS hoses (from the recall) use an aluminized thermal barrier to protect the rubber to hardline junction from the infra-red and radiant heat from the rear pre-cat (specific) and engine heat (general).

I just finished reading some posts on ecomodder.com (http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthread.php/insulating-cold-c-lines-2725.html). It might not be beneficial to insulate all of the A/C lines; some need to dissipate heat. We'll have to run the A/C and feel the hoses to find out which ones are even cold. Personally, I know very little about the operation of automotive A/C systems.

You would only want to wrap the ones near a heat source like the j pipe. You could insulate the cold side (larger hard-lines) to keep the cold in. This may help the cool the compressor a little. But the truth be told....in most cases it is NOT possible to get your AC to run any colder than it already does. There is a thermostat switch in the evaporator that shuts the system off once it gets down to ~33*. This is why the system constantly cycles on & off. It's meant to keep the evaporator from turning into a block of ice. If that were to happen, then your AC will run, but no air will flow through to cool the cabin.

Now if your running it on MAX w/ "Recirculate" ALL THE TIME, and the compressor is NOT cycling on & off, you may be able to help a little bit with insulation. It may also mean your having a problem with your AC system.
