This would be true. I don't know how to drive stick. Luckily my friend's (the guy with all the curly hair, who usually is around me) dad has an E39 and is a part of the m5board, so I got him to ask the guys on there and half the people said they learned stick on their E39. Learning stick on it was my initial concern, but not anymore. And yes...I know 16 and an M5...it was a used one with over 100k, just well kept. And it was from a family friend (very close). Read how I said it was illogical to have one at this age and the maintenance costs.

edit-Rick the last few sentences were not directed towards you...

Its not a problem learning on the e39 its the cost that comes along with it when you wear out the clutch.

i've driven both the tl-s and the is350. i currently own a tl-s but wished i had an is350. but dont get me wrong. both are great cars. i think the is350 is a lot smoother than the tl-s and i think the interior of the is350 looks more luxurious but it does lack some space for the backseat. i feel that the transmission is a lot smoother than the tl-s. i have a A/T and i hate how it jerks on downshifts especially when it downshifts from 3rd to 1st gear. maybe its just my car i dont know. time for new ATF? i think lexus in general makes smoother transmissions. but as for M/T in a lexus (i've never driven one yet) but from what i heard and read about, it needs improvement. is350 also pulls harder than the tl-s. . i dont think you should downgrade to an is250. only upgrade dont downgrade.

the IS350 is a nice car! before i bought my TL i had things narrowed down to the 350 , bmw 330 , and of course the TL which won. i felt the TL had the most to offer for the best price. the only turn off for me was FWD. I have always owned hondas/acuras as well. i will probally buy another TL when its time to get rid of my 2008.

I haven't seriously thought about it. It is my commute car and I'd rather run it until it dies than buy something else to rack up miles on. I'd love to get another fun car but I seem to be running out of places to park them.

Bingo.

The replacement cost of the M5's clutch is $1,400 at the least, including labor costs.

+ings on the IS so so sexy. Really wanted to get that instead of the TL.

Vertex is straight clean..

For the ISx50, you have a lot of options to tune it to your likings, whereas the TL is very limited. And I mean limited compared to the ISx50.

I think you have it handed to you right here. Get the IS350...there are more positives than negatives.

I would love to sell my TL if I got the money I wanted, I would upgrade to an SUV. TL and dropped + carry friends isn't working for me.

nope, I will keep my car. my wife will take over it when i finish car payments next year. I am going to move on to audi or BMW, a working professional man's car (no offense, I just think AUDI and BMW are top of the line for upper middle class)

In my eyes audi is crap. BMW or Mercedes. But professional depends on the person. If you really want to stick out drive something rare.

I always had a soft spot for the IS350. Its a real sleeper, most people dont realize how fast they are, 0-60 in 4.9. I think its an awesome car if you dont need a lot of room. I would have chosen one over the TL if price wasnt an issue. One problem is you have to hack the nav to work while the car is moving, unlike Acura. You only live once, its nice to be diverse and try different cars.

I've been thinking about selling the TL since I got it 3 months ago. I've always loved the Type-S but I got it as a second car to save miles on my truck which I use as a hauler mostly. But after driving a truck for the last 5 years I'm just more comfortable in that. I think I'll either be going back to a tahoe as a daily driver, or say forget the mileage and use my truck as a daily driver and sell the TL-S for a C6 Vette.

All that's left is one of these.

Just within range if I search hard enough. However, because the market on these isn't very diverse (mainly conv's. in red or silver & coupes in manuals), I'm waiting til' I find just the right one that's within DFW. And seeing as that could take quite a long time, I probably will end up keeping the TL & grabbing the M later.
I will be doing the same I think. My buddy got a white M3 right around the time I got my TL and I could've gone either way but I would rather have a sedan before a sports coupe. The G37S coupe is also very nice...

I've been seriously considering selling my tl-s for the last 2 months. I just cant make up my mind on what I want.

I would love a 2006 x5 4.8is or an 06 330ci ZHP - but maintenance on both of these would kill. - I bounced that idea around for 2 weeks. I then thought abut a 2011 GTI for a few days, but decided against it - as its not luxurious enough (no power/memory seats, navi not so good.)

I also thought about a 2.0 Hyundai Sonata or the 2011 Kia Optima. Those come out in fall and are both beautiful cars loaded with features for around 30k (heated rear seats, panoramic sunroof, nice navi, heated and cooled front seats).

But if I had the $$ I would definitely get a ZDX - just cant decide if I want to drop $650 a month on a lease for one. But I've loved that car ever since it came out. (and the x6 ever since that came out)

If I could sell my TL for what I deem reasonable, then yes I would sell it. And yes, I would get into an IS350 right afterwards. They're fast, luxurious, spacious enough for a young single guy, and they're so smoooooooooooooth. Not to mention they have the potential to look AMAZING. . They're faster than the TL. They get acceptable MPG. etc. The only negatives I can think of are;

- Only come in A/T: big whoop. that 6AT hauls major ass.

- Smaller than the TL: to be honest, I'm getting sick of driving everyone around all the time. But I still want a sedan so in this case, IS = WIN.

I have been thinking of selling my 04 for a new 335d. BMW has a good incentive right now of $4500 off the diesel. Over 400 ft pounds of torque and 36 plus mpg on the highway. Plus add a chip and you are in the 300 hp and 500 ft pounds of torque. What are your opinions?
