Any of you guys thinking about selling your TL?

I currently drive a 04 ssm TL with navi and recently thought about putting my car up for sale. I was thinking about getting an 06-07 Lexus IS after driving my brothers, not sure 250 or 350 yet. I've been looking and have seen 250's for around 18k with decent miles and 350's for 21k with decent miles. I feel like if i go with an 250 its a bit of a down grade. For example no navi (havent really seen one for sale) smaller interior, and less hp. But other the other hand if i get the 350 i get alot more power. Im a huge fan of the lexus exterior especially with ings or vertex body kit and the way the car drives and handles. I've owned nothing but hondas/acuras and apart of me does not want to leave the honda family. I also thought about getting an 07 type S, but i'm not sure if i want to buy the same exact car again but just a differ trim. But i feel like with the Type S its fully loaded w/ all the Type S goodies and brakes and its somewhat of a rare car around my area. Any of you guys thought about selling your TL? if so what car were u think about?

Vtec-I feel for you. I've had 2 Honda 4-door Accords, now I've got a Type S. Honestly, I don't see anything affordable on the road right now that I would want to own, except for the TL.

I know what you mean about the Lexus. The interior might be nice, but you're sacrificing interior room with the Lexus. I still think that dollar for dollar, pound for pound, the TL or the Type S is the best value for the dollar.

My friend has an IS250, 6MT, 18 in wheels, sport suspension, and HKS exhaust through TRD. Its a really nice car but I felt steering was too electronically controlled and did not have a lot of feedback. Also, the 6MT transmission wasn't the greatest. You had to feather the clutch alot, and the catch point was very small.

I might be spoiled, I'm coming from an RSX-S where the transmission is just awesome, and now in the TL-S which has a great transmission as well.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the IS250 felt more disconnected from the road than I would have liked. I'm not sure about the IS350 though.

THAT! is one sexy ass car.... i am actually thinking of getting rid of my 6mt Type S for either a CTS-v or Jag XF Supercharged. Dont get me wrong there are other options out there but those too are exciting to drive!

I've been thinking about it, despite part of me not wanting to. The cars I originally looked at were the Genesis Coupe & 5.0 GT. However, the 5.0 is pretty pricey for even 5 years financing, so I'm partially glad it's out. And we may be getting a Genesis to replace the Civic Si, so no biggie there.

All that's left is one of these.

Just within range if I search hard enough. However, because the market on these isn't very diverse (mainly conv's. in red or silver & coupes in manuals), I'm waiting til' I find just the right one that's within DFW. And seeing as that could take quite a long time, I probably will end up keeping the TL & grabbing the M later.

I just picked up my TL not too long ago- and right now it's more affordable for me to keep this. I'm happy with it so it will last me about 2 or 3 years. But when I'm ready to move on I would really like to move up to the IS350. I like how it drives, is a little more comfortable on the road (despite being a little smaller inside), and it has RWD with the extra ponies. I love my TL but I think the IS is my next step- even though in a couple years I'm sure something else will have caught my eye.

The only cars I would consider getting rid of my TL for are S2000s and E46 M3s.

The IS is a sexy car and I really like it, but damn it's small. I feel like I'm against the dashboard every time I drive one.

I am trying to sell my tl and the next car i will be purchasing would be either an Infiniti M45 or Lexus LS460. I really love the luxury feel of those two big cars. But if i were going for sport it would be an Evo, Sti, or E92.

+1

I really like my TL, even if it's a daily driver, but if i were to get another car, i'd be a weekend racer like the s2k/e46 m3s.

If i'd need to get rid of the TL, i'd look into more of a luxury sports sedan that's modable.. not much out there you can do other than the IS350 awd, G37XS, or similar. I don't like mazdas.

Before I purchased my TL-S I was looking at IS250/350, 525I/530I, M35, but at SOOOO glad I got my TL-S. I've driven an 06 TL Loaner and 08 Aspec Loaner car from Acura and hands down love all the options on my TL-S compared to all others. Just my 2cents.....good luck with the car search!~

Selling TL

I have a 2008 Type-s Silver just hit 24,000 miles great condition. I have stock wheels and 20" Giovanna Lisbon's with Nitto's. Just added 10JLW6 with red eye box and JL 500/1 amp. For the right price I would sell it. The next car I would get would be Lexus IS-F blue. I wouldn't mess with 250 or 350 I would never be happy.

All in all, I chose the the TL because:

1. Safest car in its class. (if not in all classes)
2. Longevity
3. Quality
4. The look (beast with a a spec kit/ron jon and some minor mods)

IS250 is slowwww but if your not looking for that go for it. It however is one of the best selling cars that lexus has so far.

IS series is just too small. It's like driving a freakin clown car, no room at all inside. The rear seat isn't usable unless you are 5 years old.

Not really thinking of selling the TL-S at this point. I'd consider a new Lexus GS, or a 1 year old M5, but I don't want to spend the $$ on either of them.

IS is a great car except the fact that is too small for me. i would probably go back to lexus when it's time to sell my TL.

Ya, I have thought about it. When I got my TL...it wasn't just a car...it really meant something. 8 months later, and it just seems like a car and nothing else. I lost the feeling for it, and now it kind of seems drab. I had the opportunity to get an E39 BMW M5, but the cost for maintenance, increase in insurance, and no logic made me decide to keep the TL for another 2 years. I kinda feel bad for the TL now. But in 2 years, I'm either going to get a IS350 or E39...not sure which yet.

OP- I actually just got over this dilema. A friend of mine is finally selling his 04 Cadillac CTS-V. For those of you who don't know about the CTS-V, it has the LS6 Corvette engine etc. 400HP 398 ft lb.. yeah yeah 61k miles for 21k. I owe only 10k on my 05 TL and I almost bit the bullet and decided to put mine up for sale. But after doing some hard thinking; I've decided that at my age I'm not ready for a higher car payment. (Already $285/mo) Although having the Caddi would be badass. Long story short I'm keeping my TL and getting another bike, I'm young and have the need for speed I've owned 3 vehicles and not once have paid any of them off, except my first one which was bought for me. I'd like for my TL to be my first as it is a nice catch for a 19 year old to own and finance on my own. Your age says 34 so I'm sure you're more for sporty/comfort. If I were I'd say go for the IS, they are sharp cars and turn my head everytime I pass one. I just have the problem of being never satisfied. And after reading this entire post over and realizing none of it really makes sense, I guess just follow your heart OP!

And how do you pay for the TL at age 16? How can/did it actually mean anything to you at one point, this is with assuming you don't/didn't pay for it....

If I remember right, you told Ethan you didn't know how to drive a stick. If that's the case, you really should consider something else first to learn a manual in.

I use to think the same thing about my car. I realized that I was in my car so much I never let another person drive and watch from the outside. I let my friend drive it and I drove her car, when I looked at my car I was .

Since last year I've been looking at the 370 Z's....but for what I got on the TL I would have to pay top dollar for the Nissan + the fact that are numerous issues with the Z, such as overheating, shifter wobble, wheell chatter when making a close radius turn and paint chipping...for a brand new car out of the box that's way too many issues to deal with...and besides I only have
47k on my '05 NBP 6MT and still rides as smooth as day one....

I've seen plenty of guys driving an IS. Check the IS/CL forums and most owners are male. I'll agree the interior room is tight but it looks great!

I've thought about it when I was in a different state of mind and almost gave this car the boot a few times. In the end I don't want anymore car payments, so no.

I think its safe to say that most car forum members are male, regardless of the car.

I'm not saying that guys don't drive it, but the car itself looks like a girls car (stock form of course).

I friend of mine has a 06 IS350 A/T

I like the ride of the car and you dont hear the road as much on the TL ( my experience with his and mine). Clearly he has more power than me, but my interior kick's the lexus ass, + navi and it's a lot more roomier than his. So I'll stick to the TL on this case.
