My first run at the track ever when I was 16 or 17 was a 16.4 at around 102mph. Finally got into the 13s that day with no changes to the car, only to my driving. I'm sure the Accord didn't have traction problems but there's many days my TL feels like its in the 16s.

Yeah, but we both know trap speed is hard to mess up, unless he let off. On a related note, I work with a guy who took a 6MT base to the track and ran low 17's at 93 mph on his first pass. He eventually got into the 15's as the day progressed, but the trap didn't go up much. He may have hit 94-95. I think some people just get super nervous on their first outing. It takes a few trips to be able to tune everything out and really focus.

I fully agree. Mph doesn't really change with traction and everyone gets nervous the first time. My 16 second run I smoked the tires so bad I just kept the pedal planted to give them a show. It took 10 or more runs to hit the 13s. I want to say 12-15 runs. Our club rented the track out that day and I could make a pass, get my slip, and go again. If it had been any other track day with the typical 3-4 runs I would have gone home with a 14-15 second time slip. I ran a whole tank of gas out of the car that day and had to buy a couple gallons of race gas to get home.
My friend who had a new Camaro SS around 2000 went to the track and immediately got told to leave because he was wearing shorts. We were on the way to a party that night and i had talked so much trash about how the car couldn't run 13s that we ended up at the track that night instead. We talked the official into giving us one run and we would leave. So my friend being experienced let the clutch out easy and then floored it with quick but safe shifts. It went 13.6 factory stock when most were lucky to hit a 13.9999 at that track.

as does yours! Neat to compare rides you know? I would be down to run at irwindale. I checked google maps and I am 94 miles away. 1hr 33 minutes on a good day of traffic. I'd hope tyler would roll up too! However tyler and i will run before that occurs

Stock e46 M3's are all over the place with their traps, but most are in the 103-105 mph range. 275-280 whp can only do so much against 3400 lbs. I wonder if the Vanos starts to affect performance on the older ones, because they're really all over the map, performance wise.

^ +1 ... why would a bolted E46 M3 want to run a few mid 14 second Hondas? Bragging rights?
