Any Experience With RE 750s

I had to replace two EL 42s, while on a trip, and installed BS RE 750s. Right now my TL handles like a pig (fresh REs on the front, bald ELs on the back and severe rear alignment problems).
My dealer has 4 new EL 42s to install next week. Should I accept them or push for two more RE 750s.
Are there any benefits to the REs that make that a better choice?
BTW, the REs flat spot worse than the ELs.

Really? My RE750s work really well. I love how sticky they are compared to the EL42s. If I were in your shoes here in California I would push for two more RE750s. The RE750s also have rim guards.

By the way, they were supposed to put your NEW tires in the back and your OLD ones in the front. That's the industry standard when you replace only two tires. That's likely why it drives like a pig. What happened?

The origional rears wore out on a trip to Florida - approx. 2,200 miles. Since I had to return home I ended up buying two RE 750s. I knew the return trip would destroy two more rear tires, I was OK to sacrifice the ELs so I put them on the back.
You're right about the rim protectors, they're much better on the REs - they're also almost an inch wider.
How long have you had yours? Do they get noisy as they wear?

I've had mine for about 3 weeks. These are supposed to be redesigned to avoid excess noise after some wear. I haven't owned them long enough to determine that.

RE750 original versions were notorious for road noise and short tread life. These were apparently redesigned to improve noise and tread life in the second generation.

Given your comments about handling, I'd recommend replacement with BF Goodrich g-Force KDWs. Great stick in the dry, good water evac... just a notch below Toyo Proxes RA-1s.

PS. ROTATE YOUR TIRES!!! (every other oil change).

At the current rate of wear, I will be on my 4th set of tires before I need an oil change. It's wearing out rears every 2,200 miles, I mean below the wear bars.
It's going in to the dealer next week to determine the cause.

How the hell are you wearing the rear tires out in 2,200 miles? Is the alignment THAT far off? Can you actually see the misalignment?

It'll be interesting to know what the dealer finds out.

RE730s were the originals that were noisy. My understanding is that the RE750s are the redesigned ones.

RE 730's

I had a set on my E36 328i. Great summer tires for the prices. Excellent dry and wet traction as long as the temp was above 40 F. They did get noisier as the tread wore down, however. I didn't find the rate of tread wear to be a problem.

To my eye it's obvoius, but two dealers (who couldn't or wouldn't check the rear alignment) eyeballed it and said it was fine and blamed it on "bad tires".
I have a bag of rubber powder I took from inside the spokes of the rims.
Driving the car it feels like the rear wheels are steering the car.

I'm pushing 30000 miles on my RE-750's (225/40/18) on my 328i. I love them. Great grip, especially in the wet. Fairly quiet at highway speeds, although you can get quieter if you sacrifice a lot of performance. In all, I give them 4.5 stars out of 5.
