Any 3G'ers upgrade to a TLX ? If so...
I got a 6 cylinder TLX as a loaner car the other day. A great looking car for sure on the outside, decent performance, but seems like more of a replacement for the TSX not the TL. The interior isn't nearly as substantial as even my 3G TLS or the 4G TL for that matter. Seats are not as good, materials seem to be a step back. Overall the car seems like a nicer looking accord. And OMG the transmission. It surges when you stop at a light, jumps gears too quickly. Overall the trans is a stuttery mess.
I cant believe anyone coming from a 3G to this car actually likes it, or is just justifying their very large purchase cost (40k plus).
Honestly if this is what Acura is putting out these days, I will never get rid of my Type S. I love my 2011 MDX and love my TLS. Any thoughts I had of upgrading to this car were quickly eliminated the moment I sat in it.

Any idea of downgrading to this car was already not considered by most 3G owners. 4G owners fell in tears as the TLX was not really good enough to save them from the disgrace of buying the ugliest TL to date.

I actually think the 4G TL is pretty good looking with mods. Something like this.

Stock ? not so much.
I was just blown away at how much of a downgrade the TLX really is. And having to go through multiple steps on a touch screen to friggin turn on the radio or the seat heaters is just asinine.

looks aside, i think a well done 4G is fucking amazing, the 4G is the best TL to date. 3G is decent for its time but if you think its a superior car to the 4G or 5G you are freakin delusional.

I'm not saying the 3G is gods gift, but it is the best TL over the years in terms of looks, interior and driving dynamics, especially the TYPE-S. I think the 4G looks great with MODS. But you need a lot of them. I have never driven a 6 speed AWD 4G. Very hard to find. But the TL-S(and base TL) six speed just feels...right.
If you could give me the TLX looks(only because the 3G looks a tad dated), maybe the 4G interior and the 3G driving dynamics, you would have the perfect TL.

I guess we'll agree to disagree. The 4G suspension is softer than the 3G, especially the Type S. The auto tranny felt slushy to me compared to my 3G. I think Acura tired to make the 4G a luxury sedan rather than a sports sedan that the 3G is/was, especially the Type S. I didn't let the fact that I owned one cloud my opinion either, that's why I sold the 3G and bought a BMW.

Acura just trying survive in the automotive world by betting their money on the TLX and MDX. After the year 2008 Honda has nothing but to disappoint me.
1. lets start off with that dam 5 spd AT slush box why keep it for so long and then bam makes 6spd AT for 3 years and moved to 9spd AT? why not give the upgrade to 07-08 TL with the 6spd AT?
2. Why in the hell Acura think ventilated seat is advance tech (avialable only on Advance Package) in their so call "mid size" luxury sedan? Lexus has them for years since the 06 IS.
3. in the year 2007 and up push start button already a standard feature for Infinity G35 and lexus IS yet Acura stick with the dam switch blade key.
4. Last but not least it tooks acura 8 years later to figure out consumer demand all four window switches has auto feature.
5. Still roll with FWD, why honda why? the only two RWD Honda ever made are nothing but legendary sport car and no longer in production.
4th gen TL is a big mistake Honda ever made, its ugly and price is keep falling and falling, meanwhile the resale value of TL-S is high compare to the 4th gen TL. TLX isn't a game changer it't simply is acura playing catch up to Huyndai Sonata and Kia Optima.
Beside the new 2016 NSX (which I never could afford) Honda product has nothing to impress me and it seem they do a good work to boot me over Lexus dealer.

Truong...only thing I would add is they are making FWD because they're making them on the Accord platform essentially using the same motors and trannies I'm guessing, cuts production costs big time. I also think the RDX is great small SUV.

I do believe its possible (and probable) that the 4G manual may be superior. Once I find one of those unicorns I will let you know.

and heres a 4g stock.
and heres a comparable 4G 2012(after MMC) advanced. Not too bad, but needs some work to look better IMO.

if they want to step into the game of Luxury brand then that FWD has to go, Lexus didn't become a luxury brand because their elegant ES350, Mercedes didn't know for being luxury because their CLA-250. RDX is good small SUV but no body in the luxury side want a small SUV, ZDX is no where near BMW X6 in comparsion or Audi Q series. MDX is well some what better than the RX350 has to offer since now they do offer in both FWD or AWD. The problem Acura has now is there is too many model tremple over other car in the line up, EG TLX with advance package seem good but it will tell you why spend $20k more for a RLX. ILX fully loaded buyer will scratching their head asking why they need the TLX 4 banger.

AWD RDX w/Tech is about 41.5K RX350 AWD with similar is about 47K
TLX is about 46k, E350 is 67K
Lexus NX compares pricewise to the RDX but significantly less power than the RDX.
C class compares more to the TLX
It appears Honda wants their Acura brand to fit somewhere between the Hondas and the true luxury brands.

The only real benefit of owning a TLX, is the ability to use regular gas since it's only Recommended to use premium but not required. Look at the cost savings. Over a few years you would have saved enough money to buy another TLX!

Not excited about replacing my TL 6MT with the TLX. The thrill just isn't there. In fact...I'm so reluctant to give up the manual that I'm considering to picking up the GS 350 F Sport and still keep the TL. It's just something about the way she looks after her weekly detailing...![Roll Eyes](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
3G is a timeless design. Can't say the same for the 4G.

By the way, the post MMC 4G SH-AWD looks damn good (but not as good as the post MMC 3G). With the smaller rims, not so much. Wait, I forgot that styling is purely subjective!!!
