Another Safety Recall Again? Nope. Old recall for 2G TL. Closed.
I've look on this site before posting and couldn't find it. But I just received another Safety Recall letter. This time, they are recalling my 07 type s for the driver side airbag. Has anyone else received this letter? or am I the only one. I haven't seen anyone talking about it yet. Thought I would put the word out if anyone has or hasn't received it yet. If this has been posted already, than please delete this thread.
**** Mod Edit ****
Recall is an old campaign for the 2G TL & CL.

Just an update. I call the dealership yesterday (11/15/12) about the letter I received. They told me that it's for the older models. I think they said 02 - 06 something like that. I'll still make a copy of the letter. I'll post it up today. After looking at the vin# on the letter. It's for my 06 TL which I no longer have, and I'm still receiving letters even though I no longer have the car.

I just scanned the letter for anyone who wants to read it. It's in my picture album, but when I try to view it, it loads the picture but than it keeps downloading with a blank website. anyway I'm just going to type up what the letter reads. Honda a similar case like this where the driver's airbag deployed and metal fragments from the inflator broke apart and sliced her throat and then she sued Honda for the accident. the letter reads:
November 2012
RE: TL
NHTSA-11v-260
Dear Acura Owner:
Our Records indicate that an important Safety Recall has not been completed on this vehicle. Your Vehicle is included in this recall because there is a possibility the driver's airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure. If an affected airbag deploys, the increased internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture. Metal fragments could pass through the airbag fabric possibly causing injury or death to vehicle occupants.

HONDA / PILOT 2003
NHTSA Campaign ID Number:
11V260000
Summary:
IN DECEMBER 2011, THIS RECALL WAS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE AN ADDITIONAL 272,779 VEHICLES AND 640 AIR BAGS SOLD AS REPLACEMENT PARTS. BECAUSE HONDA IS UNABLE TO ASCERTAIN ON WHICH VEHICLES THE 604 REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS WERE INSTALLED, AN ADDITIONAL 603,241 VEHICLES ARE ALSO BEING RECALLED. THE TOTAL NUMBER OF VEHICLES BEING RECALLED IS NOW 1,709,477. THIS RECALL CONCERNS CERTAIN VEHICLES FALLING WITHIN THE FOLLOWING MAKE, MODEL, AND MODEL YEAR POPULATIONS, INCLUSIVE OF THIS EXPANSION: MODEL YEAR 2001-2002 HONDA ACCORD, MODEL YEAR 2001-2003 CIVIC 2-DOOR AND 4-DOOR MODEL, MODEL YEAR 2002-2003 CR-V, MODEL YEAR 2002-2003 ODYSSEY, MODEL YEAR 2003 ACURA CL, MODEL YEAR 2003 PILOT AND MODEL YEAR 2002-2003 ACURA TL VEHICLES. THIS RECALL IS RELATED TO A SERIES OF RECALLS ON THESE VEHICLES IN WHICH HONDA IS REPLACING THE INFLATORS WITHIN THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG TO ADDRESS A DEFECTIVE CONDITION. THIS RECALL ADDRESSES BOTH AIR BAGS THAT WERE ORIGINALLY INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLES, AS WELL AS REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED AS REPLACEMENT SERVICE PARTS. A REPLACEMENT AIR BAG MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED, AS ONE EXAMPLE, IF A VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN A CRASH NECESSITATING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG.
Consequence:
IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH NECESSITATING DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG, THE INFLATOR COULD PRODUCE EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE THAT COULD CAUSE THE INFLATOR TO RUPTURE WITH METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING AND INJURING THE DRIVER OR OTHER OCCUPANTS.
Remedy:
OWNERS OF ALL VEHICLES ON WHICH A DEFECTIVE AIR BAG MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED EITHER AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT OR AS A REPLACEMENT WILL BE NOTIFIED. DEALERS WILL INSPECT VEHICLES, AND WHERE A DEFECTIVE AIR BAG INFLATOR IS IDENTIFIED, THE INFLATOR WILL BE REPLACED, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON OR ABOUT JUNE 27, 2011. OWNERS OF VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE DECEMBER 2011 EXPANSION WILL BE NOTIFIED IN DECEMBER 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009. THIS SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN IS RELATED TO RECALLS 08V-593, 09V-259, AND 10V-041.
Sorry for the caps. but that is the way it was presented on the NHTSA site.
