Another happy new owner
I just bought the AM/Ebony Auto with Nav last night here in Socal for 33,800. I was hoping for a better end of the year deal, but with the 2.9% going on, almost every dealer was out of my combo and were unwilling to go much lower.
I test drove the RL and TL on two separate occasions and really wanted to buy the RL. I'm getting a little older(30) and I have been driving a Prelude for 7 years, so a quiet, refined ride was high on my priority list. They were discounting 2K off the RL, for 47K so that made me even more tempted. In the end, I didn't see the 13K difference between cars and I just didn't like the more "mature" look of the RL.
Quick review after 100 miles:
Things I really like:
- Quiet firm ride. I test drove the Non-Navs with the Bridgestones, and I really think the Michelins are quieter and nicer riding. Perhaps it's my imagination.
- Great Nav. I was one of those people who thought I'd never buy a NAV for 2k. In the end, I sided with the people who say the car isn't complete without the NAV.
Very minor complaints:
- Leather is just too slippery. Especially compared to the RL. I'm a skinny guy, so when I take corners hard, I'm slipping and sliding. I wish they had made it a little stickier like the RL.
- A little disappointed with the DVD-audio. Perhaps I was expecting too much, but the the system(especially CDs) doesn't seem very crisp to me. I may look into aftermarket solutions.
That's it for now. I've been reading this forum off and on for a year, so I just wanted to contribute and help out others who are still researching.
Overall, the more I drive the car, the more I like it.

Welcome
Hey, Kim....
Welcome to the forum and to the Acura family! Glad to have you as a member.
I think, as you ears learn to discern the difference in the DVD-A, you will hear how clean and undistorted it is. Amazing, actually, for a car.
After listening to the DVD-A, the CD doesn't sound so hot to me either (in comparison).
But with six descrete sound sources, you have plenty to play with and more than most drivers.
I have to think the pliable glove leather is there by design and not to save money. Many M-B cars only have that soft perforated leather as a high-priced option on their AMG models. Haven't figured that one out yet. But if Acura wanted to cut corners, there are lots of other places to do so. So far, they haven't. Everything on our cars is standard equipment that you would pay $5-10,000 for on other luxo brands.
Enjoy your new ride?
