Another Extended Warranty Query

Is it possible to purchase and OEM extended warranty for less than what the dealer is asking? Is it advisable to buy it on ebay or Craigslist? Thanks.

You can always haggle with the dealer w/ their pricing. You can also look on ebay for Curry Acura they offer good OEM extended warranty pricing.

what is the standard warranty? 4 yr 40000 miles? I'm getting to 33300 miles now.

yes, and they will be cheaper. I would stay away from craigslist and ebay. I think honda acura world sells them and is a site sponsor to boot.

Thanks. I'll look at Curry Acura or Honda Acura World.

Run a copy of the Curry warranty offer and have your local stealership match it. They can if they choose to.

I've been reading many of the post here over 2 month period and I just purchased my 06 TL w/ Nav. and is the extended warranty on the car worth the money? Again this is a HONDA built car. My only concern is about the electrical stuff on the TL which can cost a fortune if it does break. The dealer was offering me 1499 for 7 years / 100K

How likely do you think it is that you'll exceed $1499 in covered repairs in the additional 40k covered miles? Remember they wont cover typical services like brakes, etc. That's probably 3-4 trips to the shop most likely for things that just break.

You can get a much better price from the on line dealerships mentioned in this thread. I bought mine from the dealer when I bought my 06 TL. 7yr 100K for $1300. I could have bought the exact same warrenty from Honda Acura World for $1100. I've seen them even lower.

When I inquired about extended warranty at my dealer they showed couple options and packages – something like bronze silver and gold? Are those packages legit Honda warranty or just another money maker trick that the dealer is using?

When I asked them if those were Honda’s OEM warranty they said yes, but I only though that Honda sells either 0 or 100 deductible and there is no other packages only mileage/year coverage. Can someone verify this for me please?

Bronze/silver/gold sounds like bull$hit 3rd party crap the stealership is trying to sell you that you don't need. My stealership had the exact same thing. It was for a wheel warranty, paint protection, and interior stain warranty. None of which I needed, but I ended up with anyway. It was the first car I purchased and they kind of surprised me there at the end, made it sound like I "needed" it. I've learned my lesson though. One day older and one day wiser. Just one of the many harsh lessons I learned that lead me to hate stealerships and realize that they are NOT your friend and they are NOT interested in what is best for you. They are only interested in making as much money as possible. Additionally, many Acura dealers have very poor after-sale service. They've already made their money and when you come in to complain about problems, they're only interested in getting rid of you. It's sad. /rant
