another clear bra question

Before I get the clear bra installed should I wash, clay bar, and wax the car?
Or a wash will be good enough?
Or just take it to get the clear bra installed?

I washed, clayed, zaino'd, then had the bra installed next day. 6 mo's later and all is well. Got XPEL also. The installer gave me a pice of 3m and XPEL and told me to try to poke a whole in them with an ink pen. Couldn't make a whole or even a serious dimple on the XPEL. No whole in the 3M either, but a big permanent dimple was present.

What do you mean 3M film or X-pel film? The film is made by 3M, X-pel is one of the kit designers that mostly uses 3M film. So is UltraShiled, Invinca-Shield and many others.

Back to the original question. I would recommend asking the installer how they prep the car. What they should do is: wash, remove any contamination (such as oils, waxes, etc.) and clay the car right before the install. For the film to properly adhere to the clearcoat, all those steps should be done. Then you wax/ zaino over the bra.

Good luck, Mark.
