Angel Eyes for TLS
#43
Hey guys!! So I too was confused on how to install these eyes on my car...so I asked spiike who had done his and since the umnitza doesn't come w/ instructions, he wrote me a VERY DETAILED letter explaining how to go about doing it. So I want to give a HUGE to him as well as to Kennedy, Bforbrian, Rocky and the many others who have helped me w/ my quest for making the perfect headlight. So hope this helps:
"There is a limitation in our TL in that the DRL are actually the highbeams run at a lower current. There is also a DRL relay box that you have to bypass if you want them as DRL's. Most of the people here including myself wired them one of two ways. One is the wire them straight to the battery. So extend the 12volt wire from the inverter and connect them in a parallel circuit to the battery using a connector you can find in any car audio department. Then some people go as far as fishing a switch all the way to the steering wheel and so they can turn the angel eyes on and off whenever they want to. That's the complicated way of installing them.
The easy way to install is to wire them to the parking lights. In the thread I started about my angel eyes, I posted pics of the parking light wires. I just tapped the interters to those wires and the angel eyes turn on when you a. turn on the parking lights and drive around like that or b. your HID lights turn on, which also turns on the parking lights. Of the three wires, the last wire is the turn signal which you dont want to tap into or your angel eyes will blink and probably burn out in a week.
First test them out. Plug the angel eyes to the inverters and touch the brown wire to the ground and red wire to the positive. As long as you dont touch the terminals and only hold the plastic wire part, you wont get shocked.
Follow the tutorial in the TL garage to remove the bumper and headlights. I believe there is a clearing headlights tutorial as well. Just follow those and you should be ok to take the housing off because I think they're detailed enough. Once you have everything screwed apart the silver plastic circles can be popped out. I positioned the angel eyes on the circles with masking tape first and then used quick grip glue (found at meijers, joann fabrics, and some walmarts) to glue it on. The glue dries pretty fast. I then used a drill and drilled holes in the black housing above the headlights so the angel eye wires can come out. I sealed the hole very very well with silicone. While those are drying, take the corner housing (it's a silver housing thing that snaps off if you twist it) and mask off the parts you dont want painted and paint it black. Let that dry over night.
Then basically snap and screw everything back together the next day. I used Nissan butyl rubber which you need to pull into a long string and just wrap it around the edges of the housing and push the 2 pieces together. Put it in the oven on a wet towel, making sure none of the sides touches the oven, and rebake. Then comes the fun of using all your strength to push the pieces back together. If you cover a monkey wrench in a towel, you can use that to close the housing without scratching it.
Once everything is back together, I used an add-a-circuit snap ins from radio shack to tap the power. Look at my thread on which wires to tap to. strip the inverter 12v wire enough to fit into the snap ins and just snap it into the wires of the parking lights. Once it's tapped, try turning on your engine and making sure it works. If it doesn't the circuit is broken somewhere, maybe tapped wrong wire or the snap in has a bad connection. If it works, I used the supplied double sided tape to tape the inverter wayyy up on a ledge behind the parking lights. Use a towel to clear the area of any metal shavings (which there are some from when the car was made) on the ledge.
Do this to both sides, screw the lights, and bumper back together, and start up the engine to make sure everything is working.
That should be it. Go order the Nissan butyl rubber and get the quick grip glue. Those are a must before the install. Hopefully it helps."

Does anyone know if the new 2007 double projector headlights would fit on a 2004 TL? I know there is a thread on here somewhere, but I cant find it. If it does, I was gonna bite the bullet, and purchase brand new 07 headlights and have them shipped to Light Wurkz to have the Umnitza angel eyes installed on them and have it shipped back. Another plus of doing that is my car wouldnt be out of commission for a few weeks. Plus I was thinking I could recover some of my money back by selling my 04 headlights. If someone can confirm with me if they will fit, and if any adjustments need to be made I would really appreciate it! Thanks guys!

Duuuuude.. that looks so bad-ass. Makes it look like actual eyes, looks more or equally agressive as two in each headlight!
Too bad Canadians have auto-drls.... If I installed a similar set-up it won't show like that =[

I just purchased the halo lights from Umnitza to install in my 06 TL but they came with no instructions and I'm not getting much help from Umnitza. I have no idea what to do so I would like to pay someone to install them for me. If anyone is in San Diego and willing to make some extra cash, please PM or i'm also on yahoo messenger as ahnelite. Thanks!

Anyone know which one would look better on a kbp tls: orion v2 or predator thinline? or just in general which one is better for TL and is orion v2 worth that extra 30 bux.
