Awesome job my friend, I'm strongly interested in picking them up if they go around the fog lights and the HID's.

^^ Blue is tight..but blue will catch the police's eyes real quick...especially since you live in teh bay area..they're assholes. They pull people over for random things just so it looks like they're doing something.

me, i just want four eyes in white! no two eyes (only HIDs), and not blue. and if they could blink with the turn signal on their side, or with the hazards (especially if the side markers did too), now THAT would be real hot!

man, everytime i talk to the guys from umnitza it makes me want to smack him. he sounds hella young, nonprofessional and cops a major attitude. i wrote him re:blacking out headlights and this is what he wrote back.

little shit working for umnitza it looks like huh, well I can attest to their quality, I have seen their work first hand and it is top notch. I would definently jump on this mod gochan, but I dont have my car near me and cannot remove the headlights. Personally if you can afford it, this looks like a perfect mod for our car. Hopefully everything falls into place!

THIS sounds cool. I have been on the fence about this whole "angel eye" thing until I thought about this. Blinking with the turn signals? That's what I'm talking about! Can they make the angel eyes do that?

of course...it's all in how you wire it.

Sounds like this company is just mounting the angel-eyes, not wiring them. You ship them your headlights, they mount the bulb and ship it back to you...you wire it up however you want to.

I figured the wiring would not be a problem, but how well do these lights hold up to the blinking?

Also, are they not visible when the HID lights are on? It looks as if they are still visible in some of the BMW photos. If you can't see them when the headlights are on, when do you see them? Are the on all the time?
If they are, the angel eyes would have to remain on and then flash when the turn signals are on.
If not, then they would only turn on when the HID's were on and then would have to flash with the turn signals. This has suddenly become very complicated for me.

So, are angel eyes always on?

Do we always have to add things that other car makers have? Altezzas, Angel Eyes, dual exhausts, stickers etc?

I'm starting to think that if you black our your housings, or use one of the custom molded housings that umnitza is making, then it should be possible to use two rings on each headlight. However I dont know how well that would look until I see a picture of it. They should be set-up as either always on, or on with your running lights. I would prefer on with your running lights, that way they are on with your xenons as well.

i'm confused...how would you have 2 rings on the same light? one inside another?

and i'd want mine on all the time, and blinking with my signals.

now, enuff talking. gochan and rawdog, have either of you taken your lights to them? come on DIY west coasters, somebody has ta take the leap!

I just talked with Steve at umnitza. The shop is in the process of moving to a new facility this weekend. They'll be moving to Pleasanton. So far they still haven't had a TL headlight to model from so I'll probably be dropping mine by early next week. I live in Walnut Creek so it's just a 15 minute drive. Will let y'all know how it works out.

I was willing to take mine in, but just never got around to it... not to mention whoever I spoke with was such an ASS that I didnt want to deal with him (not Steve) ....

Plus I couldn't leave my headlight with 'em as my TL is my everyday driver

Good Luuck Again!!

Well, here's the next scene in the saga.

Called to get the address of the new shop and Steve wasn't in. Talked with Matt. Now, when I had talked with Steve last week, I was under the impression that I could take my car in, they'd remove the headlights, keep em for however long they needed, and I'd only pay for the cost of the materials, Steve estimated about $100.

Matt told me that with the new move, that he couldn't spare the labor to remove the headlight. He advised me that it's better to remove them myself, bring them in, he'd charge me for the time/labor to bake the headlights (he estimated about $160)

Question for the group: anybody remove the headlights? I haven't done it on my 2005 TL but did it for my 98 CL and it was a serious pain. Matt thought I'd have to remove the bumper cover, simple but would take a few hours. Anybody have some clues (time, complexity, tools needed) for me?

wait wait wait, this guy is going to charge you to make a product (get the dimensions) and sell the product so they can make money....

i dont see why he cant give it to you for free because their kit is going to be based off of the one they make for you

He actually said he would provide the materials for free but there's time and labor to bake open the headlights. I'm not terribly worried about the $160 as I think I can work that down some. What I need to understand is how much effort is involved in removing the headlights in the first place.

I wouldnt pay jack sh*t if they were gonna use my headlights and have ME take apart teh healights too.. thats BULLSH*T! After they make one for your car.. it's rolling in dough for them.. and they would make dough off you.. I say fu*k them and find a different place to make them if you can find one..

I've inquired about this and was told nothing has develped yet. But there is a chance to get neon tubing (like the ones that go around the dashboard) to be roundly fitted around the projector lights. It will require some glue and alot of labor but the guy is willing to do it with warranty.

He's gonna give me a price quote this weekend as he takes a look at his TL to see exactly how it can be done and how much work it will take...
