Am I looking in the wrong spot to purchase?
Hello-
I am interested in possibly purchasing a 04-08 TL in the near future but it seems as if they are few & far between. I actually came on here because I assumed there would be a decent amount to look at but it looks like there isn’t. I have checked carguru, autotrader etc. Any other direction you might recommend?
I am looking for:
04-06 Manual
07-08 Auto
07-08 Type S Auto/Manual
Thanks!

They are all over....you aren't looking very hard if you can't find many listed. What is tough to find are lower miles, good condition, and reasonably priced. I see several listed all the time between Craigslist, cars.com, and carmax.

I’ll expand my location and see what I can find.
Thanks.

When I was shopping back in early 2017 for a 2006 TL 6MT I cast my net nation wide; I finally found a really clean example about 160 miles away down in Connecticut. In the end I remained patient; the shopping experience only took five months (four of casual shopping and one shopping in earnest).

If you never drive a type S you will never know the difference. I drove one and immediately sold my 04 to buy one. Had I known what I know now I would have waited for a 07+Type S when I first started looking for my TL.

I disagree. I sold an 04 for an 2008 S and the car feels completely different and superior in every way. Aside from being a newer car overall the 07+ has a better riding suspension, nicer steering wheel, gauges, lighting, better entertainment with rear view cam and MP3 capability. Get a Type S and there is just no comparison.

Where in this quote did I say anything about a Type-S? Answer; I didn't. As for the Type-S being a completely different car; yes, kinda-sorta-maybe. The fact is the 2004-2006 6MT models share a lot of suspension components with the Type-S (actually the other way around as the 6MT models came first); that and the 2004-2006 6MT models are faster than even the 2007-2008 Type-S Automatic models, suggests, once again, you completely missed the point.

Come to MO!
Man if you can swing it, come to Kansas City, MO! I am shopping for another 3g TL at the moment and honestly the market is pretty good here right now. Probably going to pull the trigger on an 08 base 6mt, 140k, 100% stock and GREAT condition for $5k.

Hmmm, no such a thing as a 2008 base 6MT.

I am a bit confused about what folks are asking for 2007-2008 Type S cars. I have seen prices online ranging from $5000 to $20,000. KBB has never shown a price near even $15,000, so how are these owners pricing their cars? I called to ask questions about one of these high priced cars and was told it had been sold. I am particularly curious as to pricing criteria since I may have to sell my own 2008 Acura TL Type S 6MT (White/ 79,769 miles).

KBB is a "guideline" that doesn't always take "demand" into the equation well. Watch local ads, see what has and hasn't sold and see if the price ranges line up with your expectations. About all you can do. There is no right or wrong price. Pick one you like and if someone else likes it, they will buy it. If it doesn't sell, you know you don't have product that someone is willing to buy at that price. Price high and sit on it longer till the right buyer comes along. Price it low to be done with in within a few days.
Our last car we sold, I priced it about $1000 lower than market just so we didn't have to dick around with it. It sold in 3 days with no issues. We got more than we would have gotten on a trade-in and I didn't really have to do much extra work.

Thank you both for the insight. It kills me to sell the car but I have put less than 275 miles on it in the past year and a half. Every two weeks I wake it from its slumber in the 3rd spot for a quick drive around the neighborhood to keep it current, just does not seem fair to a car I love so much. @BreezyTL So I just start a new thread with pics requesting feedback? I don't want to violate the forum rules since I am debating selling my car. Thanks again for the advice.
