Huh???

233 lbs tq and vtec....you have it backwards. And the TL is quite average in the weight department by today's standards, with the 6MT variations even being considered on the lighter end of average. The Turbo Sonata weighs 3443, so it's hardly a Lotus Exige in the weight department.

As far as the race, I would've expected the TL with its mods to pull significantly more. On paper the Sonata looks like it should be quick, but most tests have it running 15 flat at 94-95 mph.

I shifted into third and stayed in it till 108 when 3rd ends. I was only 3/4 car ahead maybe a hole car. Thats some shit. I got home did a little research and found out they have a turbo V6 putting out 276hp
That's your problem right there. Probably throwing your aerodynamics off. I'd get it fixed before it gets worse...

And the post about Hyundai lying about the Sonata's HP:

The reason they limit the power in lower gears is because wheelspin and torque steer would most likely get the best of the driver. I doubt it's a huge amount, probably about fifteen horsepower. The Mazdaspeed3 does the same thing, too.

Seems like the race is a coin toss, could go either way based on the driver. I'd like to see how a 6MT would do against a Sonata 2.0T.

Well on the first point the dyno curve at Edmunds show the torque curve in 4th gear is low and they are "wondering where the ponies went"

Then you are right on the second point, but no one knows how much the reduction is in the Hyundai and being an automatic does not help further dampened by gearing for mileage. A 10 year warranty means they must take dramatic measures to reduce potential wear and tear.

But here is some quotes from Sonata 2.0T owners!

"no power/turbo at takeoff" this car seems to have?
Man, it's dissapointing it feels like every 4cylinder out there from 0-40, then the turbo kicks in."

"my car doesnt have the off the line pin you to the seat.. but.. only a second or so and it's really pulling hard!"

"I hate not having the power/boost off the line. Turbo feels great at 50mph+. I had a V6 Altima and it was much better off the line, just have to deal with torque steer"

so there you go! then further
The other night I was driving the stock TL 3.2 6mt and could easily do 80 mph in third.

How a modded TL could even be close especially off the line has no merit.

I purchase the 04 in 06 and the biggest complaint on the forum for the 6MT was butt prints in the leather.
The Hyundai Sonata forums show quality issues all over map and a dealer network that is schooled on a non-enthusiast customer base who buy primarily on price.
