Additional Faux Wood Kit

I have a parchment interior with faux wood and decided I wanted some more of the faux wood to give the interior an even richer appearance. I purchased an OEM kit from www.exoticwooddash.com for $196. I installed it myself in about an hour. It looks terrific and tones down the contemporary look- aluminum strips- of the interior.

The installation was a simple procedure of cleaning the surface of dust and dabbing with alcohol. The faux wood comes on 2 large pieces of cardboard and peel off quite easily. The last step is to use a hair dryer to make the adhesive stick to the surface properly. There's approximately 20 pieces.

My dealer was stating that the TL "wood" is real wood, whereas the TSX is just stick-on. I'm pretty sure, though, that the TL wood is just stick-on as well. It still, IMO, looks better than the carbon fiber.

Its fake. Only the higher end Legends, RL and Vigor ever had REAL wood.

It's a 100% perfect color match.

Check out my gallery

Hi everyone. I just wanted to save the hassle of searching for you and post so anyone interested could click on my photo gallery. There is an additional kit now available that is an overlay to go over the Black Carbon pieces that come with the darker interiors. I still am glad I exchanged the pieces vs. an overlay. The additional kit mentioned at the top of this thread is an overlay. But it blends in really well and the color is a 100 per cent match.

Re: Check out my gallery

Thanks, brucedeb1,

I know you and ever redirect your links to other threads. I thought gregory28 may have different interior leather and style. That's why I asked for pics.

Congrats

Gregory28
You will be amaized by the reactions you will get when people come up to stare at your new TL, cup thier hands to see inside and get a peak at the wood look. In the past few weeks there have been no less than a dozen sets of people that I don't know who can't resist the urge to check it out. And these are only the ones that I have caught in the act. Enjoy.

Hi Greg - I am very anxious to install the wood kit in my TL. I am not a fan of the "carbon fiber space shuttle" look.

When I added this to my Solara it upgraded the look of the car tremendously!

I am concerned about the thickness when it is added OVER the CF. Do you have any feelings about this? Maybe I should call them.

Thanks - JON

Two things.
First, you have asked about the thickness of the pieces over the Carbon pieces. I suspect you are inquiring into the additional kit available now to be used to go over the existing CF pieces in the darker interior choices. The thickness will be the same as those in the original kit with 21 pieces, which is aprox. 1/8th of an inch. I swapped my pieces that came in the CF for the wood tone pieces that come on the lighter models, like in your parchment. I then added the 21 piece kit to the interior to complete my look.
Second, if you would like to see the package in person feel free to contact me. You are in LA and I am in South Bay I am sure we can figure a mutual meeting spot.
Regards,
Bruce

Hey - Has anyone here installed a wood trim package (not the 04TL - it's too new) in Arizona or New Mexico? I'm curious how they hold up over time. Does the wood / adhesive handle the 100 Deg+ temperatures OK?

Hey guys, I have Anthracite/Camel and love the rich look the factory plood gives (way better than the carbon fiber look, IMO).

That being said, I think the kit that Brucedeb1 and others have is plood overkill. Obviously this is subjective and for those who like it, more power to you but for me it's just too much.

One thing I will say though is that the plood in my TL is waaay better than the crappy stuff they put in my 03 MDX. It looks like brown plastic. The TL's plood is a true step up.

Checking out woodtrim.com, I noticed the following differences versus exoticwooddash.com:

- They provide the speedo piece instead of the panel above the glove box. I'd rather have this panel to blend better with the wood in the doors which they also do not offer.
- Their price is $110 more.

You could always call the other company and see if they'd sell you the "missing piece" if you really want it.
