My2006AcuraTL

The warranty on my 2006 Acura TL will be expiring soon. I'm thinking about extending it.

I have 28,300 miles on it (have two cars, so I don't drive it all the time). I get regular oil changes on it and any other needed preventive service. The only repair I've had done so far is getting the axle seal leak repaired (a week ago).

Have any of you gotten your warranty on your Acura TL extended?

How much is it?

It depends.

I find that the money can go somewhere else, especially at 28k miles, but if you want peace in mind, go for it.

I had this dilemma about a month or two ago. I also have 06 TL with now a little over 50k miles and I decided to not get any extended warranty. I am just a person that does not buy into any of the extended warranties for anything and I know by now I saved myself thousands of dollars.

So many threads on this....

My position is and always will be that if you have a Japanese car there is no need for an extended warranty. You will usually end up paying way more for the warranty than the work you get done on your car, especially for these cars. I have done my due diligence and the TL does not really incur any ridiculous maintenance items (unless you have an AT).

Now considering other cars, like the 04-06 TSX's, I would for sure (AC Compressor issue = $$$). Just not the TL.

I don't want anyone to think im promoting this website myhondawarranty.com. I bought mine there for 1300 instead of 2300 from the dealer they are located out of main. I bought it with my 06 tl at 48k miles a year ago. I am at 68k and so far just a blown speaker. I'm going in tomorrow for a possible leaking cv boot. So far I don't recommend getting one at all.

i bought one back in 2005 in late 2008 i recieved a letter that they were going out of business. so basically lost my money and dont have extended warranty. if you buy make sure they are a solid company!!

I opted not to get another warranty for my 06 TL. It was going to cost about $1800 and I think that I can save that money and take a chance that there will not be that amount in repairs for another 50k miles or so. I just made sure to do as much preventative maintenance that I can.

Exactly. I keep saying this- these companies make money for a reason.

the reason i bought an acura is so that I wouldnt need to rely on these gimmicky extended warranties. Do a time value excercise. An $1800 purchase of an extended warranty now is worth almost $3000 10 years from now if you were to invest that in a 5% cd instead.
