Type S hands down. I was thinking about getting a base TL but I'm really glad I spent the extra money and got a Type S, it was worth it.

Type S gets my vote....I love the little interior upgrades and ensure it is a 6MT!

Type S has 28 more HP, not 18. The 07-08's also have the revised tranny from the RL.
It seems like more to me on my Type-S, though. Maybe it's just the engine sound that makes it seem more aggressive.

here's a wrench being thrown into the mixxxx!
the auto type-s puts down 230hp to the front wheels.
the 6MT base TL puts down 230whp.
so a base TL can be equally as fast as the type-s

It appears I was wrong, but can't edit my post. The original 2004 horsepower ratings were higher than they should have been, but using the same ratings methodology it is 258hp vs. 286 hp = 28 horsepower difference.Originally Posted by RedsTL

I stand corrected

If money isn't the issue, definitely go for Type-S. The 04 you are looking at will nearly be a decade old soon.
For me it was 06 6MT or 07-08 Type-S 6 MT. I found my 06 for very good price and it was about $7000 less than Type-S's with simler mileage. The Type-S features definitely wasn't worth that much for me.

If you want the look of the aspec and consider it important then make sure to see a Type-S in person that has the full A-Spec kit on it. The 04-06 kit is much better looking (specifically the front bumper piece). The front piece for the Type S does not look very good in my opinion. But as others have said you need to determine what weighs in the most for you.... performance/looks/cost.
