Acura TL-S gas

Yes premium only.
I drive about 60/40 highway, and I'm getting about 23-24mpg right now with 3,400 miles. Supposedly it goes up a bit after the first oil change. If I do straight city driving, it's about 18mpg.

Same here around 18 City 21-24 Highway. depends when you reset trip computer. When i fuel up i can reset it and hop right onto the freeway and drive 30Min. or about 35 miles i seen it go to 28-29 i was SHnizz but as soon as you start surface streets started going down to like 25,23 and eventually 18-19 till you get back on Freeway back to 22-23... Ohh i only have 2500 miles so it should get better im thinking around after 5000-6000.

i drove 250 miles a couple of weeks ago and averaged 30 mpg on the hwy. Someone else was riding with me and we had stuff in the trunk so I figure it could be even better if you drive by yourself with your trunk empty

In my '07 6MT Type S, I've never beaten 23 mpg average in a 40/60 city/highway mix. I've never checked it, but I sometimes doubt the accuracy of the MID. My '05 6MT 3G got exactly the same mileage according to the MID.
I go about 245-60 miles on every tank, but the reserve light comes on very, very early. I was late for an appointment last week and drove with the MID saying "0" range for about 25 miles. Even then, I only pumped about 15 gallons until the car was full.
Also, the Type S (or maybe all '07-08 3Gs) is the only car I've ever driven in which the needle moves of of "F' just a few miles after a fill-up. My gf's Mazda 6 (4-cyl) will go 70-80 miles before the needle even moves from above the "F" mark, and goes 450-500 on a single tank with the same driving mix as mine.

Even the one time I drove mine around a course, it only went down to 14mpg and that's worse than anything you will do on the street.

This is one the the reasons why I chose the TL-S 6speed over the TL
according to Natural Resources Canada . . .
the TL-S 6speed costs $20 (per year in gas) less than TL 3.2 Auto
Those are Miles per UK gallon city/hwy, and last column is pollution emission
Acura TL 2008
TL3.2 S5E $1960/yr 24 38 4704 kg CO2 / year
TL3.5 M6+ $1940/yr 24 39 4656
TL3.5 S5E $2060/yr 23 36 4944
also... forget regular gas on any TL, even TSX

It's premium recommended not required. My old BMW was premium required because the engine will knock due to compression, but I have used mid grade on several occasions and my TL-S was fine. The master mechanic at one of the dealerships here in Chicago vows by regular only. The car is peppier with premium and the detergents will help keep the engine clean.... but the ECU WILL adjust fuel air ratios if you put midgrade or regular.
With an intake I get 30-32 on the hwy. Without I used to get 28-30. I have a lead foot in the city so I get like 22-24.

the lowest ive ever gotten was 14(freakin horrible!!!) but i was doing 100% city. now im getting about 20-24 highway =) still not getting as much as others but better than before. we should only use premium to prevent engine knock and get the most out of the engine.

With my '04, I average between 24.5 and 25 in the colder months and around 26 in the warmer months - all of this is work commute and around town driving. Best I have gotten in a week of work commuting was 27.98 in the summer. Best on the highway was 33.94 in the summer with the A/C running the entire time.

correction, i just calculated my MPG (100% city driving):
190 miles average / 12 gallons = around 16 MPG.
so thats my estimate. before i used to get 170 miles per tank with exxon gas, then i switched to BP and get 190 to 195 miles per gallon.

This is assuming you need more octane. Once you're above the knock threshold there is no advantage to more octane.

Don't waste the money. Buy a gallon of Tolulene or Xylene from the paint store instead and add to a full tank. Instead of boosting the octane a couple points (91 to 91.4), you will get a meaningful octane boost.

Thanks for the advice... I was just wondering those product in real life make sense or its a company ways to make some $$$$

They do work, but the main ingredient is usually tolulene and they over charge for the few ouces you get. It's better to get a gallon for $12 than a few ounces for $8.

I'm using 93 on my Base-TL right now while I break it in. Gas is also cheaper... What used to be $3.50-$4.00 for regular is now $2.50 for premium. I will probably switch to 89 after about 1000 miles and/or when gas gets more expensive.

91 octane is recommended for the base model also. Compression is the same.
