why not just boost the J-series?
that way you wouldnt have to make custom engine mounts...plus, you're forgetting all the other stuff the K needs. how will it attach to the transmission?!?!?! you would need a k-series transmission to fit. by that point, you're changing out the whole car.
probably the ONLY time it is worth doing a k-swap in the TL is if the TL is junkyard queen! if you grabbed a junkyard TL for $300...then, maybe....JUST maybe it would be worth it

the reason i ask is cause i have a j32a so i cant have a turbo and the supercharger just doesnt make sense, 4k for 45hp?!?! like who creates the #'s and would it cost around thw same as me removing the j32a and putting in a j35 and then attempting to boost that, i wanna get in the 330 hp range but even with all bolt ons i wont be there at all...
and why the fuck cant you turbo the J32? unless you have an 04-05 that cant use Hondata

also why is it impossible for them to hook up to the auto but can hook up to the manual, and also so if i did a transmission swap to manual, would i be able to turbo then? how much would i be in for that?

Anyone that says 4K for 45HP hasn't done their homework and that goes across the entire length of what it takes to boost a J32 engine. To make a super long discussion sort.
1. RESEARCH
2. $$$$ (5-10K is the norm for boost)
3. TUNE
1. Lots of topics on this, including actual gain numbers from comptech blower members (Stock to supporting mods) and including turbo builds.
2. Budget is key. With a turbo build, it's all custom so more $$$. Comptech is a bolt on kit but highly suggest supporting mods and lastly do you want to build the engine for boost or nah?!
3. TUNE TUNE TUNE, you can slap whatever you want, without a proper tune it's a ticking time bomb. (Factor in cost of Hondata and tuning places, see BUDGET)

idk, to me it seems theres a lot that says i cant turbo the car but what ill do is juat finish with the exterior, and like you said just accept that i have a pretty car and it has alright power. Get some rims and just roll. Ill just wait till i get something else that can be turbo'd with proper tuning. Ill still check them out and see what would entail with me doing a k swap if anything. Might be the first k series tl if anything lol

You have an auto.. fix that shit before you try and turbo or do a swap

If you can swing the cost and complexity of this, the K series is a better option for big power. It can handle more in stock form...and its a lot lighter...and there are never ending trans choices.
People are K swapping Miatas, S2000s and NSX's for the low cost power density of the K series.
Pioneering usually starts with just going out and doing it.
You're looking at huge money for the swap...and another huge chunk of money to make it reliable. Or save the 2nd chunk of money and YOLO reliability.
Keep us updated on your progress! Be interesting to see this be done.

i swear i hate you guys but love the information lmao
so boosting with the supercharger is worth it cause i dont really see it, ive done research on it and it seems like a waste, unless you can find me an article that says otherwise.... i would want to turbo but seems i cant, and idk the k series would be a interesting thing to do. Might look more into it and weigh out my options.

the TL is a expensive car to mod when it comes to performance and there arent a lot of options out there.. just to give you something to compare the TL to, you can spend $500 on a ECU flash for a MK7 Golf GTI and without ANY bolt ons (purely stock) you can instantly gain 114 ft/tq and 87whp... have a aftermarket downpipe and a intake? APR's Stage II ECU flash will only cost an additional $100 to ECU Flash you to stage II for additional gains of 62 more tq and 17 more hp
so to wrap up, a $5k supercharger for the TL will give you around 60-65whp
a stock GTI with a $500 ECU Flash will give you 114tq/87whp on 93 octane on the 7th gen GTI

I am not sure why people trying to boost Honda car (beside civic), most Honda car is design to tackle corner and carry most speed possible and you can see this reflect on ITR, Civic Type R, S2000 and NSX. The TL is no exception when you driving normal it doesn't let you know its FWD unless you really push the car to the limit (well at least that how it is on my Base and TL-S). I really like the way the stock Type S suspension set up it take corner well and the balance out on rough road however the S2000 is a fun car for couple hours on a weekend. If your goal is to have a bad ass straight performance car then I suggest you look into other platform.
1. BMW 335i with a stage 2 tune can easily out run a camaro SS or vette in straight line.
2. 2JZ N/A-T or 2JZGETT with proper tune can also out run most V8 in straight line.
3. If you want factory fast go with Cadillac CTS-V which put down about 480 - 490 WHP (stock) you can out run alot of V8 performance car and you can also add smaller pulley for extra boost.
4. 2012 and up WRX with Cobb Stage 2 can also compete with V8 in straight line. (I ran with my buddy once in the stock AT TL-S during Texas mile even and my goal is to compare before and after tune on the WRX we started at 30 MPH roll and by 120 he already got 10 cars length).
Noted all of these option above can be achieved for less than $40k.

You can buy a 07-08 TL S ecu and the 06 adapter then you can use Hondata on your car. Swap a manual transmission into your car then yes you can turbo it. I rather have a boosted J then a boosted K.

im mean at the end of the day, all i did was ask a question, if you feel my question was a waste of time, why comment? i just wanted to know of swapping a k would be possible and worth it being that my situation with an A/T 06 gives me less of an option for anything in the tuning market to boost... like i confirmed, id just leave the car the way it is, and just be happy i have a nice car... sell it when i get to that point and get a better platform for tuning and being a performance car like a 335i, g37, infiniti 50s or genesis coupe 3.8 with a turbo.

A TL with a K series doesn't make any sense in so many ways. Why build a race car out of something that is the size and weight of a yacht? If a bigassed race car was a goal....idk if anyone knew this...but there is this car called the "TSX". It came with a K24, a 6MT, and luxury features....and it kind of looks like a TL.
As far as buying a fast car goes...I too, have aspirations of some day buying a fast daily driver. I thought about the IS-F because nobody else makes a reliable V8 RWD sport sedan. But its also a pretty boring concept overall. A manual 335i would be at the top of the list. I guess I would just deal with broken shit my whole life and learn to fix bimmers.
A V8 M3 is also intriguing. But...do not want 10mpg from a daily driver. Regardless of "I can afford it", it just seems unnecessary.
DAMN this thread.
