Ok...so as some of you know, I tackled this on Saturday. Took me 3.5 hours and a lot of "WTF" did I get myself into moments. Once installed it looks perfect to me and I couldn't be happier.

I'm mainly posting this because I was too frustrated to take pics step by step but it would have been nice to have close ups from all angles so you have a point of reference for how much to cut and how the lense should sit in relation to your bumper.

Tools used:
dremel w/bit rotozip blade (for easier cutting out of the opening in the bumper/a cutoff wheel attachment and a grinder attachment.

There's really no way to measure this or that because in the end, you'll really have to eyeball it and you have little room for error.

I did it all with the bumper off. I didn't cut the rear (behind the fogs) assembly precisely...I just kept cutting till I could squeeze them into place...I then used a fat screw I had to secure the innermost part of the housing assembly(the part with the cover that covers the screw) and jammed the other side of each assembly into the space on the outer most edge of the opening (furthest from center), I then came from behind and used a drywall screw and pushed the assembly back forward as necessary from that crevice...creating a tight fit.

As far as wiring...I t-tapped the stock fogs and disconnected the bulbs (but left in socket to not have an opening) and just ran the total of 4 wires down into bumper (L neg and pos and R neg and pos). I'm waiting on some nokya arctic blue bulbs to match the stock projectors a little better.

As far as cutting the grate that snaps back into place...cut off excess and then just eyeball and keep putting it back on for reference as you cut off little by little. Doesn't look perfect up close but from far, you'd never know it wasn't like that. I left a little edge on the longer middle one because I liked how it looked and it looked similar to the newer ones.

Here are your pics...and I'll be glad to offer any advice I can. It was the most intimidating instructionless install...but turned out great and I want others to have it easier. With the pics below you'll be able to tell when you have the cutting/positioning of the bezel "right".

Thanks guys...well to be honest...I had decided against doing this mod at all. I convinced myself that I'm not gonna hack up my expensive car to put in fog lights and I would just leave the car the way Acura designed it that year. I put everything back in the box with the resolve to sell it on here...

Saturday morning came and I realized I was being a pussy and I needed to give it a shot. All or nothing. I had a few moments of feeling like I should have left well enough alone again, but after it was all done= I'm happy...as you can see from the closeups I did scratch the plastic etc...but when you look at the car it looks good. Anyway, so yeah, I drove around locally looking for HID kits or at least some colored bulbs to match but to no avail. So I just slapped the stock bulbs back in and opted to get the 16 dollar nokya's from ebay. It'll be good enough for now. The hard part is done...from this point on, if I decide to...I can always do the accord switch install and/or change to HID's. How can I turn my factory fogs into DRL's though with the daytime running lights module? I know it's possible but since I ran both sets of fogs on set of lights they will both come on unless I snip the factor fog lights at the socket. Do they receive their power from the DRL module once installed?

I didn't...I was really too busy wanting to kill myself for getting that far into the project already. Read the first paragraph though, I gave instructions on how and where I cut/secured the housing.

I also have the OEM fog kit in a box in my closet, I'm just waiting to find some time and the balls to it. I'm not sure what HID's to get, I want to do two sets one of the old fog/DRL and for the lower fogs. but times are hard, and i want good 4300k hid kits.

Ok...sooo now that HID's are down in price, I have a question for everyone that already has this. What HID brand and color temp is everyone using to match up with the factory HID's low beams. Reason I ask about brand is because my 6000K mculloch kit for my RSX looks like my friends 10000K no name hid kit.

Also, how is the cutoff with the HID's? I noticed that even with the lenses pointed down, there is some light projecting up well above the stock bulbs. I'm guessing that's natural because of the shape of the reflector for the fog, but I'm wondering if this becomes a problem with blinding people when you switch to HID's.

ill post a pic of how mine aims at a wall for you. the glare is unavoidable, but with the way mine's set up, you see a horizontal line across.

 

How do you guys aim these things after the install?

 

here's what mine looks like aimed at ground level. notice the horizontal line designating the brightest area coming from the fogs:

this shot shows how much glare comes up over the bumper from the fogs. i indicated it with an arrow showing where it arcs forward:




but mine are aimed and positioned differently than yours, so your results may vary (see below)

 

Yo rockstar why'd you disconnect your old fogs? Can't you just have them all blazing? I mean I know it's illegal, but you know just for the option. Or did I read that wrong?

 

Gatdammit-No...I have concerns about going over the stock wattage on the stock wiring...I think it may be a fire hazard to have double the output draw on such a small wire. I may end up rewiring using the accord switch to use my old fogs for just drl's.

Sixsixfout-Thank you for the aiming...and guess what...we have a VERY similar pattern! I shooting diagonally from the car and having the glare way up on trees while you drive by! I noticed this the other night and thought there was something wrong, but my horizontal bright line is about where yours is. Makes me feel better.

The way I installed mine...it's can't be aimed very easily because I eyeballed them and then put a screw from behind to keep them from moving. They are both bascially pointed as far down as they go in their housing (up down swivel). One because it's stuck down and the other cause I put it down. The glare point for both my fogs and low beams is about the same when you look and squat down at a distance.

BTW...your pics were the ones I used as a reference point to know if I was getting it right!

 

Sounds good brother...I haven't been to towers since I had my EP in 05! I almost took my orange RSX out there a few months ago to get it sold, but I had luck around home so I didn't!

 

you're welcome! you should try and get HIDs for them. it makes all the difference. it sucks i didnt get pics of the back when we were installing them, i could have been able to help out more

 

what brand did you get? i want the color to match the HID's as well and yours look like they do! I will probably have to rewire though, so I can get the DRL module for the original stock fogs. I too didnt think to take pics, I was too frustrated to at the time!

 

^Yea...sixsixfour, if you would be so kinda as to list what brands, kinds, bulbs, colors on your front end that would kick ass! I love the color scheme you got going on with the fogs/drls.

 

mine's actually a generic 6000K HID kit i got from a friend (who did the install). it actually is a poor match as it is a solid white when fully lit - my existing OEM fogs have 6000K HIDs on them but they appear more blue. my OEM looks piss yellow compared to them both. here is a comparo of all of them on:

 

Thank you! Well, I would say that the fogs look like they match the lows well, but the oem fogs look much bluer IMO. Looks great overall though!

 

ill try to take a pic with all of them all lit up again, but warmed up. iirc, i shot this with the lows and accord fogs well warmed up and the OEM fogs just started. i will also take it in daylight so you can see the color variances.

 

^To be honest 664, especially on your WDP, the 6k "blue" looks amazing, especially next to the amber in the headies.

On my NBP though, I may want to make them all look stock color temp...

I notice my strong line of light when driving next to the divider on the highway looks like it's shooting HIGHER than my stock HID cutoff...is that normal...like, due to the fact that lenses face outward? I can't see being able to shoot them much lower! Since they're flush with the bumper. Maybe it's more apparent because of the color difference.

yeah, the closeups helped me figure out where to mount the lights at, i wasn't sure where they were supposed to sit.

I have to check out your picture for the wiring. That way I can have the stock and new fogs on independent wires so I can use the stocks for DRL'S!

Ok...in pic above...your stock fogs look a little bluer than the accord fogs. The accord fogs seem to be a very close match to the OEM hid, maybe because it's not sitting as close to it.

Are these the raptors? Or are you not using the raptor at all anymore?

 

I forgot what kind/brand I have for the ones in the OEM fogs, but I still have the box at home. ill take a pic of it tonight.

the accord fogs are a generic brand, I dont have the box for them unfortunately. the raptor i have at home but am not using it. its a spare kit for the OEM fogs (9006 bulb)
