Is the AC On or Off

Non - NAV 04 TL.

When I switch from Climate Auto to manual mode, I'm not sure is the AC is automatically turned on or off. The display does not show the AC off or AC on indicator.

To make sure, I press/toggle the AC button until I see the display showing AC off.

What makes me unsure was that this morning, after driving to the dealership, clear water was dripping from the rear section of the hood (likely location of the AC evaporator). I had the temp on 70 deg on dash ventilation. So there should be no reason why the AC should turn on. BTW. it was around 50-60 deg. outside. I did not use the defroster since the car came from my garage. The car has been in manual mode in the past 3 weeks.

The AC can run at any temperature and should be run in the winter especially when you want to dehumidify the interior. For example if you use the defrost the AC will automatically come on. On auto as you have stated you can not tell if its running or not the climate control will decide that for you without theAC indicator.

With the engine being as powerful as it is, A/C will have a minimal effect upon your performance and gas mileage.

Not according to the trip computer. Watch your avg MPG fluctuate(3 MPG for me) as you cycle the A/C on and off.

Even in manual mode, the AC is on, you need to push the AC button on the right side of the radio stack, it cycles to say, AC off, AC on, and not sure of the third, but I think at the third level, it is automatic per the climate control.

need4spd - that third setting where id does not show if it is ON or OFF is confusing. Looks like auto as you said. IMO, it should not be in auto mode.

Makes sense to me (I think, off is off, on is on, blank is climate control dependent.
