About to pull the trigger on an '06 TL w/ Nav... questions
So I found a 2006 TL WDP w/ Nav, Tan interior.
I test drove the car yesterday, it has 62000km's (~38500 miles). The owner's lease is up this Friday owner wants to make a deal so as to allow me to buy the car from the dealership. He's asking $22,995 and its going to cost me $20,560 to buy it from the dealership (+$500 admin fee).
Haven't looked at CarFax yet, but so far from what he told me the front grill had to replaced, and repainted twice. Once someone in a parking lot hit him (replaced/repainted) and a golfball hit it once (repainted). The car is in good shape as far as I can tell without getting an inspection done. The breaks felt a bit shoddy, they weren't as responsive as I felt they should have been.
Anyway, I'm goin to have to get it inspected before I can tell him what I'd pay him. Also, dealership wants me to pay safety/emissions test, and I'll have to buy it "as-is" ... what do you all think of this?
Thanks!

In Canada, it's priced a little different. But according to http://www.canadianblackbook.com it's a good price. I just don't know about the whole buying right after its returned from lease stuff... I've never heard of it done.
As far as I can tell it goes:
Me and lessee work out payment to lessee -> Lessee gives car back to dealership -> Dealership and I have a financing contract for the car ($20,560)

There must be some reason the leasee does not want to turn in the vehicle. Find out what that reason is. If all works out the price sounds OK for a private party deal. For reference... a few months ago, '07 TLs with Nav and ~30k miles were selling for $22-23k in my neck of the woods.

For that many K's, it sounds like a great price.
There's a 06 TL with 89,000km and no navi selling for $20,000 at my local Honda dealer.

if he is turning the lease in anyway, why are you going to pay him? let him turn it in, then buy it from the dealer for 20xxx, am i missing something? you're paying this guy for doing nothing but turning in a car that his lease is up on anyway.

There is no way the dealership will allow this to go for 20xxx. The market price of non-Nav TL's with around 40-60k here is roughly 21,995...

heres an idea, talk to the dealership, tell them you want the car, but you already have a check cut from your bank for 20000, and that is the absolute most you can spend, if they still tell you no, then you can continue to search or if you absolutely have to have this particular car, then make up some BS about finding 2grand in a grave in your backyard (make something up, you get the idea) and pay the same you would pay this guy for his "sweet hook-up" thats landing him 1500 for nothing.
there IS a way that dealership will let it go for your price, you just need to know how to talk to them, unless TLs sell like hot cakes where you're at and dealerships cant keep them on their lot more than 20 minutes, these guys are going to see a solid opportunity to sell the car quick and will likely take your offer. dealers like a quick buck too, they've already made their moneys worth from the lease payments.

I have a 2006 Acura TL that recently the check engine light came on. I drive the car for a while and my VSA light comes on and I am not able to turn it off unless i turn the car off. When the VSA light comes on It take a while for the car to move while pressing on the gas pedal. I took it to autozone and they told me it was the throttle positioning sensor. So do i just buy the the sensor or the the entire throttle. The sensor is $75 and the entire throttle body is $285.
I got my Certified 2007 Base TL w/o nav with 28k on the clock for 21,900. A mint 06 with nav with 38k should cost at least equal value to mine if not less.
No reason to buy this car...go look for another one

for reference, i bought my 05 tl non navi 30,600 miles great condition inside and out, for 15225+TTL, 16047 out the door, you can DIY convert non-navi to navi for 1600, so lets say that it's a 2000 dollar option, that puts my 05 tl w/ navi at 18000, is TPMS and a few very small differences between 05-06 worth 3-4 grand? you decide

Thanks.
A lot of what you're saying is really helpful, definitely. A thing to remember is that the TLs up here in Canada are bit pricier... thats just how it is up here. For any car! So I should have really stated that originally.
20k for the car is good and fine, but if I have to pay admin fee (500) safety, e-test (100-200), profit this guy wants (up to 1500) ... might not be worth it after all that, considering the car is AS-IS too. hmm, sucks i only have a few days to decide. but i guess if it's not meant to be it isn't...
