99 TLP and 06 Impala LTS

Ok, I thought these new Impalas were pretty lame. But here's the story.
I was on my home from work today and I was cruisin at like 65 and this Impala came from behind me and just had to pass me I guess.

For some reason I just couldnt deal with this guy passin me, so I started to chase the guy to pass him. Well, I guess he didn't want that so he starts driving faster, by the way we are on a two lane highway.... you know one lane going in each direction, anyway, he starts passin people like crazy and comin pretty damn close to oncoming traffic. So I decided to back off.

Well, I ended up to a point where it was just me and him and an older BMW 3 series. I passed the BMW, even though he was tryin to not let me. And that damn Impala was so far away I could barely see him....... but I was determined to pass this guy (more of a personal goal for me rather than tryin to race him)

Anyway, this guy must have seen me coming. I was going 100 and was barely catching up, then 110, then 120, started to get closer but he started going faster too. So I got to 135 and then I was on his tail. My carpool buddy, was like "ok dude, that's good, you caught him." But it wasn't just about catching him. I had to pass him. So we are still going 135 and then I pushed it to 140(which is the fastest I have taken my car) and passed him.

Not too much later after that I had to turn, but he waved as he passed, and I guess it wasn't a race, but more a matter of two guys taking their car to a ridiculous speed and enjoying it. Which, by the way, I did and had a huge adrenallin rush.

So that's my story, and I guess the point of it was to let you guys know, and to also say that those Impala's dont suck as much as I thought they did. Maybe I thought they were stupid from a design perspective. OK that's all.

Yeah those impalas, from the design aspect are not that great but yeah there performance is good. If it was a v8 i doubt you can catch his ass. But if it was a v6 i think you had a good chance and i read you were on him and passed it. Just to make sure be really carefull specially when some 1 is sitting with you highspeeding is always fun but its only fun until some 1 gets hurt

I'm pretty sure it was a V8 and maybe the only reason why I caught up with him could have been that he had a governor.

I definitely agree with what you said about the speeding. But it was on a very long straight away and only him and I were on this road. Plus, the guy I ride with gets a kick out of how fast my car can go.

OK I just looked it up it was a 233hp v6.

i believe there are 3 different engines in the new impalas..... the ls base model has a single exhaust and i think it puts out around 200-220 hp... then theres the lt and ltz which i believe share the same engine which puts out close to 240 hp ... then theres the SS which is the 8 cylinder that puts out i think around 305... (sorry if these numbers are inaccurate too lazy to search :-P) i never really had too much trouble with the non SS impalas .. even in my 2000 maxima i handled them pretty well... you should be able to handle one pretty easily if you started out even.

Can and DID. haha. i guess it just took a little bit cause he was so far away. Plus when he was closer it waqs just to dangerous to try to pass. I mean that guy came pretty damn close to oncoming traffic. I'm not in a hurry to die ya know.

But I'm pretty sure that if we were to go heads up I would have whopped him easily.
