so i'm on my way home from my friend's house and i'm sitting at the light in front of Club Abyss on Rt 35 going northbound (for you jersians)... and my music is pretty loud as i had a long day at work, it was late and i had about an hour drive ahead of me... help keeps me awake... there is a silver cougar to the right of me and he looks over at me as i think he hears my sub... i see him out of the corner of my eye and look over and see him and a girl in the passenger seat... so im thinking to myself i wonder if he is gonna race me...

light turns green and i slowly take off from the light... and he isn't moving... so i don't pay him no mind, start accel normally and get up to about 40mph cruising in 3rd since the limit is 45... my car was in D4 the whole time... didn't bother downshifting... so as im moving along i look in my passenger mirror and see him pulling up really damn fast... i was like wtf??? so as he passes me i step on the gas 3/4 throttle and by the end of my reaction and with the time it took my car to downshift, i am at his rear bumper... i look down and im about to fill up all of 2nd gear... im reeling him in slowly and by the time we are even, 2nd was maxed out, just into 3rd gear... i start pulling on him and i look down its 80mph... i kill it, look back and he was about 5 carlengths back... either he gave up or his car gave up...

im not too familiar with the specs of the cougar so i came home and looked up its info... im sure it was the V6 model since i would have killed it if it was the i4... but the 2.5 V6 has 170hp and weighs about 1000 lbs less than me... im only at 200hp... so i figure that the weight to power ratio was pretty equal???

thoughts guys??? should i have killed him.. i know for sure it wasn't the SVT model... im pretty sure he was stock engine but all i saw were taillight covers and that was about it???

there is no svt cougar, that designation is only for Ford vehicles. cougars aren't that fast, but they weigh more than 2450lbs. their curb weight is actually 2892lbs, still a lot lighter than your car which is 3513lbs. really he should have beaten you by a hair. do you have any mods?

just a CAI... but i have a heavy ass bandpass sub... and i had a full tank of gas... well i feel a little bit better if he was supposed to beat me by a bit...
