6sp Accord.....

I'm drivin' home(on the freeway) from one of my parties wen a 2dr 03'ish accord pulls in front of me and slows down.. I thought that was kind of rude but i changed lanes and go around him but he speeds up, then throws his hazards on( he has a license plate that says 6spd vtec or something but it was a V6) I then catch up and by 90mph I was a car length ahead of him and pulling some more.. I see him slow down so I do the same.. we line up @ 50mph and he honks three times and we go again.. I was a little behind on the jump and he was a car length in front but I again started pulling at 90-95 and I just kept going...Now this is in my 03 TL, so she's not running @ 100%...(got a misfire problem) I also took off my Crank pulley.. I don't know what the accord had.....

whoops. I read, just not well right after I wake up. I was just looking too hard at the sig.

Anywho, I don't think a 6-speed would pull THAT hard on a modded type s...Now, one that is broken...

I think satinsilver knows a lot about the accord.. the accord i raced may have been modded... and your right my 03 isn't at 100%... last I dynoed 220WHP/198TQ with the IMRC and the egr valve malfunctioning and bad plugs... but I guess it was enough to take out the accord..lol

I had a 00 accord cpe v6. It only pushes out 200hp and comes in auto only. Pretty sure the 03 was the same model. Good kill anyways.

Raced one today coming home from work just now. I saw the car in my rear view swerving through traffic, which caught my eye, and the accord started tailing me hard. We ended up lining up at a light that has no intersections for a good 3/4 mile. I really had no intentions to race HER (looked like early mid 20's) but I figured watever, and turned off the vsa. I looked over and she awknowledged with a stupid smirk and when it turned green she launched her car incredibly well. But midway through 3rd gear I shut it down cause she was back a good 3+ car lengths.

I heard the roar from a CAI but that sounded like it was all she had. Poor girl had no idea what she was dealing with.

The 03 (7th gen) isn't the same as the 02 (6th gen), and the 03 + come with 6MT + V6. The dyno'd hp/tq output at the wheels of that thing is somewhere around 215 - 220hp/195 - 205lb-ft. I know, because I drive an 04 6MT. It has an advantage over your 03 TL probably because of the 6MT, and that you're not running 100%. But, even if you were, it'd be pretty damn close and I wouldn't be surprised if someone took you in the Accord if they could drive a MT right.

6spd Accords are awesome ... I probably would have gotten that if I didn't get my TL.

True if I was stock and at 100% it would be more of a driver's race but with my mods I'm prob. running near 240WHP even with the misfire problem.. so the V6 accord's although some give me a good run, always end up seeing my tail lights on my 03'.. On my 08' It wouldn't be so close..

If your car isn't running 100% I don't believe you would beat a 6spd accord with a good driver. But it doesn't matter anyway because you won the race.

Probobly not 240whp with the misfire. I woudn't doubt that number if your car was running 100%. If you were stock against a 6spd accord you would be eating its dust. Your mods are the only thing keeping you from getting smoked.

^ I think it's hard to say, according to Jeff at TOV, he drove the 7th gen AV6 6MT, and he felt that it's a faster car than the 3rd gen TL 5AT (which is as fast as 2nd gen TL-S). Then he did some actual performance testing, and found that they are actually as fast as each other in 0-60 and the 1/4 mile. But then it might be because of the testing instrument that they used.

If I were stock, it would be a driver's race but the 6spd Accord would have the advantage......I wouldn't get smoked though, id be a car length or 2..

I agree. It all depends on the driver. If the driver in the accord 6MT is good he should pull on a stock 2nd gen TL-S 5AT.Probobly half of the 6mt drivers aren't so great though. So you won't have so much trouble.

All I know is that the 8th Gen Accord Coupe is pretty quick. Was it Motor Trend that ran one against an Altima and Eclipse? Anyway, they ripped off an impressive 14.0@102.5 mph. And it's not exactly a featherweight at 3394lbs. I think the Accord's HP is once again underrated and best of all, premium fuel is not required. I'm looking forward to seeing what that car can do with some bolt-ons.

Yea, that was Motortrend. TOV dynoed the 08 AV6 6MT and got around 240whp, and I think that was with regular fuel and an engine with not too many clicks on it. Also those heavy 18" wheels are robbing quite a bit of power.

Like everybody else said stock for stock you would probably lose depending on the driver. You wouldnt get smashed but you'd probably lose by a couple. Seeing how Acura is the high end of Honda and the high end of Acura/Honda performance I dont see why everybody is so surprised that Acura's usually win these races. Just hope you dont run into one of these V6 guys that have swapped out the J30 for a J35 or J37. Then I'm sure there will be a thread up " Got smoked by a 6 speed Accord! WTF!!?" LOL!

I gotta add my . I just got rid of my 2002 TL-S with Comptech Icebox. I owned it for 3 years. Last year we bought an Accord V6 Sedan 6MT. The Accord would eat the TL every time we lined the two cars up. I've put the Accord up against a mildly modded S2K, a modded 2006 Civic Si and a stock 2007 TL-S. The Accord pulled them all. Now, it's my wife's car and I drive an SS Silverado which has plenty of nuts. But I'm nervous for the day that we're driving down the freeway together and she wants to run 'em. Then she'll tell all out friends about her victory.

Of course he could beat the 07 TL-S if it was an AUTO. The Accord 6MT's performance is close to the '04~'06 TL 6MT. TL 6MT > '07 TL-S AUTO. So what he said is precisely correct, and very very good statement.

Now if that TL Type-S was a 6MT then that driver must had the gas pedal pushed half way and with the parking brake jacked up.

I TOLD YOU, stop worshipping the TL/TL Type-s AUTO. They do not have wings. The weight and tall gears will not get you ice cream. Trust me. If the TL had the 6spd AUTO tranny that would've helped a lot......... though it'll still get ass raped by 6MT version starting at 120 mph and to the top end.

Right, the TL-S that I ran against was an AT. But the Si and S2K were both 6MT's. I would assume that the 6 speed TL-S would walk on the Accord all day. My wife want's an intake on her Accord. Daddy says... NO SIR!!

The Honda Accord 6MT is a very quick car. It shouldn't get beat severely by Type-S 6MT considering how close the regular trim 6MT performs to the Type-S 6MT from 0-60 and quarter mile. Many drivers who have experienced testing both regular trim 6MT and Type-S 6MT felt they are very close in accelerations. Good choice on choosing the 6MT there man.

Thank you. I had special ordered a black one in early 2007. It was supposed to be my wife's car and I drove the TL-S. But the 6MT was so fun to drive. I wrecked it on the 13th day we owned it. TOTALED. Now we own a silver one with NAVI.

Funny story..... I rarely drive my wife's Accord these days. I was taking it in for service a few months ago. I was driving down a 4 lane road and noticed a 3rd gen TL desperately trying to catch up with me (I speed, always). He pulled up next to me at a stop light. I was ready to launch on his ass. He rolled down his window and motioned me to roll down mine. I did. He says, " Hey bro... I was fixin to run you on the next straight. But then I saw the red V6 badge. Nice car!" Turns out he was going to the same place I was. His wife has a coupe. We swapped stories of amazement at the dealership. The service guys there swear that it's the fastest American Honda sold to date.

Oh, and I ordered the CAI for it today. I made the mistake of letting my wife read the previous posts. You bastards! We always joke about using her Accord to tow my SS to the track. Hmmm.....

Hmmm.....
how'd you guys get your hands on a V6 accord sedan with the SIX SPEED?
