6mt Slotted Rotors...fingers Crossed
I just got off the phone with tirerack to check on pads & rotors for my 6MT. I told him I wanted HAWK HPS pads and PowerSlot Rotors based on my past experience with the same set up on my S2000.
I told him they had nothing listed for rotors at all on their site for the 6MT, and that I believed that the setup on the STi was practically identical to the TL. The calipers are the same brembo 4 pistons, and the bolt pattern is the same.
I asked him to cross-reference the offset and center bore of the STi rotors to the TL rotors, and to check with his vendors to see if something could be found that would fit, preferably Slotted, Cryo-Treated, possibly dimpled, but abosultely not crossdrilled.
He is going to do some research and call me back as soon as he gets some answers.
I will keep the thread updated, but everyone wish me luck....maybe us 6MT-ers can finally get something other than brembo blanks or the astronomical amount of money they want for the disca italia......

Ok, I gotta ask, do you honestly think this will accomplish anything other than slightly better appearance?
6MT's brembos don't have warping problem, and slotted wouldn't add much braking power, if at all. Don't slotted rotors reduce pad life?

Well, I toasted the stock brakes on my S2 in about 25K miles. After putting the Hawk/PowerSlot combo on the front, after multiple auto-x's and very very hard street driving, they were still over 1/2 life left with about 40K on them when I sold the car with 65K.
Slotted rotors do a number of things, they keep the pads clean of any debris, release the gasses that can build up b/w the pad and rotor allowing for better cooling, and as a result less brake fade under repeated hard braking. I do plan on tracking this car, and i dont think the stock rotors will hold up to it, especially with 27K on them already.
Besides, the Brembo Pads are waay too dusty. The HAWKS put out about half the dust.
The pad/rotor set combined with SS lines and some DOT 4 or 5 fluid will result in better pedal feel, longer fluid life, and again, less fade with hard (repeated) braking.
