6000 Mile Service?

I have been watching this board since I got my TL back in March and always get some good info from you folks. I took it in and got the Oil Change at 3,000 miles since I have always felt that it's a good thing to do to any car, even though it's not required for the TL.

I have just crossed over 6,000 miles and am wondering if anyone else has been taking their car in for service this regularly. I haven't scheduled the Service yet since the Oil Life gauge tells me that I have 70% Oil Life remaining.

I would appreciate any opinions that you all might have!

I always get my car serviced early. I just don't like the idea of that crappy dirty oil in my engine. I wouldn't get the other service done too early though, unless I drove the car in a harsh environment.

Let your conscience be your guide. Acura says go by the MID, but if you like to change it early, then by all means do so. The main intent on following the MID is for the first oil change, because Acura says there are additives in the oil that assist in the break-in of the engine.

After the first oil change, more frequent oil changes can't hurt. To make a ridiculous example, it would not hurt to change oil every week, or every month, except you might wear out the threads on the drain pan or filler plug, deplete the supply of a very precious liquid, and spend a lot of extra money.

Many people here choose to follow the MID for that first oil change, and then follow a modified schedule for future oil changes, based on their personal preferences.

i had my first oil change done at 6300 miles. i'm now at 10K+ and still have 50% on the MID. i did the oil change at < 20%. i may wait until < 10% the next time. my A1 service hasn't come up yet either. just worried about my tread on the tires. they look fine though.

My MID is saying that I have 90% oil life with around 520 miles on the car. So far, 80% of my driving are done on highways and 20% in the city. When I drive on the highways, I typically drive between 60-70 mph. I've been going easy on the car, and have yet to redline it. The highest rpm I've had the car go up to would be around 3700 rpms, but I have also encountered some occasional stop n' go traffic here and there. I'm wondering if this sounds too early for the oil life to be dropping because some people have said that they were able to retain 100% oil life with a little over 1000 miles on their TL's.
