I know the TL has dvd-a and a 6 disc changer but does it matter which slot you put the dvd disc in?

 

No, you can load a DVD-A into any of the slots (Since ultimately there's only one laser reading the disc).

 

The system doesn't care which slot a disc has been loaded into. It only reads one disc at a time, determines whether it's a DVD or a CD, displays it as such in the LEDs and/or the navi's audio screen, then plays it accordingly.

 

If you want to load it into slot 5, for example, maybe you have plans for slots 1-4, then just press the 5 button, it will see there is no disk there and put it into load mode, display will say busy and red light will come on, then it will say load and green light will come on, then insert disk.
