5AT vs 2006 Mazda6 (off guard, 89oct)

A clear-tailght mazda6 got into my lane and took first spot at a red light. I wasn't too happy about it so I thought I would move over to second lane when the light goes green.

Light goes green and Mazda is near flooring as I can tell by the sound. So I follow him and slide gear into SS mode. There goes 1st and in 2nd, I crawled up from second lane. By the time I hit 3rd(I'm guessing around 65~70MPH), I pulled a car or two ahead of him. Since I started from behind, that equals to more than two cars.

Good for him he got behind a humongus trailer on 1st lane. I matched trailer's speed at 5'o clock so he got totally trapped between my car and trailer. The idiot didn't give up and made fast lane change from 1st to 3rd while I'm still in 2nd. He floored again. It was 35MPH road and I didn't wanna take it further so I just let him do his thing.

was it a V6 MT? those are actually pretty quick. they have 220 something HP stock and are around 3200lbs. the are pretty quick actually. I ran against one on the highway and didn't beat him by much. i started pulling away around 80, but before then from 40-80 it was pretty much dead even.

Same deal here with my 02 Maxima; it was not until near-triple digits that I was able to do a strong walk. A well driven 6s should never be slept on.....not to mention the fact that they handle fairly well.

I think it was AT(I wasn't really paying attention to brake lights at the stop).
It would been more interesting if I had 91 premium and he was MT.

It was uphill so that might have played some sort of role too.
