I would just drive if its any trips less than 1000 miles, its FUN driving the TL out on the street, even highway driving, but thats just me. 500 miles is just about a tank and a half which is below 100 bucks.

Drive it after you Seafoam it first - for best mileage and performace on the trip
Flying is dangerous !and your airline may disappear halfway thru your trip.
Having your car to run around in beats everything
100 bucks is not even 2 tankfuls these day- what will it buy in a month?

Some people managed 35 MPG =\
15 times 26 is good enough for me.
390 miles
if you can hit 60 MPH and cruise(cruise control)
people said 35 MPG
35MPG times 15(as much as I would go even if tank holds 17.5 gallons or w/e.
525 at 60 MPH constantly.

the low fuel light comes on with 3 gallons remaining- about 2.5 of that is useable fuel

I'm from Montville, actually went to a private school in Parsippany back in the day...I would just drive man, I drive back and forth (Montville-Manassas) and it's not so bad.

Statistically, you're far safer flying than driving.

OP, I would do it. I made a thread about this earlier (although I was looking at a significantly longer trip) and I'm going to go ahead and drive it. Made financial sense and the idea of spending a lot of quality time with the TL sounds good to me.

Keep Right Except to Pass
From Parsippany, I'd say drive but take I-287 to I-78 west to I-81, then south to PA-581, then south on that to US-15, and follow US-15 south to Leesburg, Virginia, where you take VA-7 a short distance east to Lansdowne. Much nicer route than the New Jersey Turnpike route, and usually a lot less traffic.
I've gotten up to about 415 miles on a tank in the TL, and in each case where I've done that, I probably could have gone further but I found myself in situations where I knew there was a nearby gas station but I didn't know what I might find at upcoming exits, so I stopped while I knew I could. I can essentially go from Northern Virginia to just north of Albany before I have to stop, but being able to keep it in 6th gear on the highway makes a huge difference. The TL really loves the highway! I've averaged 30 mpg a tank with an average speed of 70 mph on occasion when I've had long stretches of open road.

Virginia has some beautiful roads and scenery. Hope you enjoy your trip.
In less than two days, the wife and I are going on a short (5-day) vacation and will take my other TL.. her '05 automatic. We generally cover overall about 1100 miles on this trip. Nice drive and great car for such a trip. In September, we take the same trip, only a full week and we take my '04 manual TL. Mixes the mileage between the two.
