Well guys I talked to the salesman here in Jax about the '04 TL is coming here to the dealer this Sat. 33000 for the NO NAV, 35000 w/NAV, She hook me up with the info too and I can say with all the stuff that's in it that is worth the price specially if compare to BMW and MB. I'm still keeping my 03TLS but maybe in the future after they work out all the bugs.

I've never worked at this or any car dealership. However, I have purchased 3 new Acuras from there since 2000 and I'm also a regular in the service department. They treat me right so I’m loyal to them.

I can’t explain the lack of interest here. It seems as though the only place I hear about this car is on this site. But that doesn’t bother me at all. I kind of like a surprise attack. Plus, as long as the demand is not there, supply will not be a problem.

Memphis streets are full of kids in their Civics and Integras with huge aluminum wings and lawnmower mufflers. (One day someone will have to explain to me how a front drive car can benefit from rear down force.) But sports sedans aren’t very popular here.

Well, just back from the Bay Area dealer where I thought they would be trying to load up and mark up the TL's, based on my previous MDX experience. Good news...current plan is MSRP...great move by the dealer to avoid lots of frustrated, angry, and alienated consumers!

Everyone knows that dealers are going to make money on their sales. The question is "How much?" If a person wants to pay MSRP, that is their choice. However, I still believe that deals are to be had if one does enough looking. Perhaps not intially to those who have to be the "first on the block". Other venues to check is leasing agents not associated with a dealer and internet buying sites like carsdirect.com.

Actually I live in Lakeland, FL- halfway between Tampa and Orlando. We have one dealer here in town while I sent 2 each to dealers in the bigger cities. All dealers responded with quotes, although one missed my deadline and wasn't in the running.

Actually, I did the same thing for both my 2000 Tl and the 2003 MDX by calling dealers all over the southeast. I figured it was worth a drive between 2-7 hours to save 1-2K. The dealers in Bham, AL wouldn't come off MSRP so I got the 2000 TL from Gainesville, FL for $27000 and they drove it up for me (cost another $100). I then called from South Florida, Georgia, SC, Alabama and Tenn for the 2003 MDX and got it at $34000.
However, I doubt I will have such luck right off the bat for the 04 TL.

Same with me, I drove a lot to get my car but the price was $1500 to $2000 lower than anywhere else. Initially I was in shock, thinking they gave me a TLP instead of a TLS but all doubts were gone when I went to the track and ran a 14.7

Agreed. Getting dealers to compete against each other for your business is one sure way of making sure you'e getting the best deal possible on a given make and model in a given area, no matter what the demand. If one can hold out, I expect that after the 1st quarter of next year prices on the '04's will start to come down. Furthermore, if he really values my business he may give in if he knows I'm walking out the door and down to the Infiniti dealer for a G35!

I've started to shop for the 2004 TL. I'm in the SF Bay area. I will not pay 4K over MSRP.

Two years ago, I bought a Toyota Highlander just after it came out. Local dealers all wanted around MSRP and the cars had too many options or the wrong options for me. I found a dealer in Southern CA via an internet car shopping site that sold me the car for invoice. Bay area dealers told me that was impossible. I do think I was fortunate but I will try this approach and others again for the TL.

Ya but the thing is, That you guys have tons of dealers around your area..

Around here there is 2, and only one gives me the proper treatment, I will still have them compete..

But the next dealership is over 100-200+ miles, so its not easy to bargain.. You kinda have to give in and pay MSRP

I just purchased the 04 TL today Oct 3rd for MSRP $33,150 My local dealership had 6 of them! Most beautiful car for mid 30's, you guys cant imagine how it handles and accelerates through turns and on open highway. 110 mph feels lke you are going 60. You gotta get one but don't pay over MSRP that is for suckers, keep in mind there is more than one dealership you can go to, just use your personal advertisement of being in the car in the city you bought it in for your arguement. Dealers want there cars in there cities driving around with there sticker on the back. Don't forget dealers compete against each other and use that to your advantage.

Yeah, I think that's the case - Oct. 6th.

Big full page ads in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today this past week for the 04. It said Oct. 6th.

BTW, I'd have to think MSRP is what dealerships will be asking. Here, in So Cal, the TSX wasn't marked-up but dealerships were sticking to MSRP.

Bought my Green/Camel TL last Saturday at Acura of Serramonte. They sold it at MSRP! CJ was the gentleman whom I dealt with. I ask him how many navi units were coming in next week and he said 60% of the allotment. He said he would give the same deal to whomever I send to him. So tell him Ken sent you and you want it at MSRP. Good luck.

Thought I would save some the trouble. Local dealer in South Bay is asking a $5K markup on their cars. I too believe in shopping. There will be someone that will sell it to you at MSRP. By January we could see prices below MSRP. Especially once the invoice price is public knowledge. I can be patient. Especially when patience = $$$$$$

We're one of the largest Acura dealerships in the nation and even though even we're finding we'll probably run out of availability soon, we aren't charging over MSRP for the vehicle.

We have excellent availability currently though.

I put a deposit on a TL 6 Speed at Los Gatos Acura. They had several automatics in stock and were selling them at list. For those in the SF Bay Area there is at lest one dealership selling at list.

I think that 04 TL is priced way to high. Even with all the new technology. I owned a 97 2.5 TLP and I think the list price was some where around 33K. Acura couldn't sell them so they started offering special lease programs on them. Then in 99 they dropped the price to 29K and everyone bought them. I think Acura needs to get off its high horse and start discounting their vehicles not charging over sticker and adding things on and forcing you to buy them. I for one will wait for the price to come down. If Acura finishes the year below last years sales, you can bet the 04 TL will be discounted or a special lease program will come out. I'm looking for 1 - 2k off MSRP before I will buy.

Would you really want a car that is not selling the expected #'s? If you only care about how you like it, that is ok, but if it is not selling well then that would most likely indicate that people do not think that it is a cool car. So if you want a cool car, don't get one that is selling too few.

I think that Acura should price their cars reasonably in the first place, and sell them all at MSRP. (Which I think Acura does in general.) And only drop the price during end of year close-out. Making prices artificially high, and then giving big discounts cheapens the brand name.

As for the price of the 04TL, I think it is priced right on the money. For those that think it is too high, buy the Accord, it is a very good car too.

id say 4-6 months for up to 500 off stickeri sold acuras for 3 years and never discounted an mdx diffrent vehicle but if the demand is there sticker will staythe Tl is the most bang for the buck cant wait to get mine in november if you live in the LA area ask for julio at santa monica acura he is a good friend of mine and not to pushytell him lynch sent you

I just got a quote from Acura of Ocean in NJ for a lease. 42 months 12K miles/year $422.94 with $2821.94 do at signing. I don't think that's a good deal.

I just read the article. I am not surprised at the reference to the Acura's looks, but I confess I am shocked at lackluster sales. On another thread, I suggested that the new TL not be priced too high so as not to lose market share and existing customers. I was quickly hammered. But like you, I am concerned that Acura may lose what it is known for, which is solid value.

The designs are bland. Witness the TSX. The front is generic. That can be forgiven because of a desire to preserve existing family resemblance. The side view is gorgeous, in my view. But then, they seemed to lose their nerve when designing the rear. Had they continued with the squat, well balanced look suggested by the profile, they would have been better off. Same thing with the new TL. While it is an improvement over the earlier version, there's nothing really exciting about it. The attempt to borrow heavily from the BMW was so obvious on the side panel. The front is generic, as usual. But the rear, again, looks out of place.

That being said, would I pick a Bimmer over the TL? Not unless I was high on something. Bimmers are overpriced and unreliable. Who wants those headaches? Not the Audi, and not the Lexus which in my opinion are just as bland. The only Lexus with a sign of life is the IS 300, which is about the same size as your wheelbarrow.

What you are seeing from last year is the end of a design on two cars TL/CL a 8 year old design on the RL. The TSX sells before we can get them same with the MDX and now the TL. next will be the RL. If you don't like the cars fine don't buy one. If you want a three grand discount wait a while but realiz that a lot of our cars sell at MSRP for a while. try an accord.

I just bought a 2004 TL with nav and paid sticker +$100 for the add-on mud flaps.

I am pretty happy so far. It has developed a nasty rattle in the first 150 miles that I am concerned about though.

I got the green with the parchment interior.

The gadgets are addictive.

I also own an NSX. No gadgets on it!
